The bad thing is failing to realize lost value
Adams thought he was a first rounder, tried getting into the first (meaning he offered other teams more than the 4th rounder he did trade) for a guy who potentially could’ve been there at 38.
It’s a 4th rounder, no big deal, but it very well could’ve been a future 2nd rounder or more if he ended up in the 20’s to take him - sbroads24
I look at it on what actually happened vs what was talked about.. Also, say he does trade back to 11, still gets Quinn, trade 37/38 to get back into the first round, and takes a guy with a first round grade there.. I guess I don't see the negative, as we end up with the same two guys we have now, just a different way to doing it. Sounds like they honed in on the talent they wanted, found there guys, and went for it which is something in my eyes that's commendable. Being passive and letting the board fall to you isn't a luxury a bad team has tbh. |

Rossi, Perfetti and Quinn were all there at 8.
Chances are all three are gone at 8, 9 and 10. Now what? |

If we don’t sign anyone of note, but claim Tyler Johnson off waivers...
Will ppl be cool with that?

Maybe we could add in a guy like Craig Smith? |

We end up with Lundell or Quinn.
Or better yet someone else takes Quinn and we still end up with Perfetti |

The thought process was Nash wanted to move up for Askarov.. who they still got at 11. So what are these chances that all three of those will be gone? And if that's the case, there's Lundell or Jarvis who aren't that far behind this group. Who know's how it all woulda shookin out had that deal been made. |

Again, the three players are there at 8.
We trade down THREE spots. They are then all drafted at 8, 9 & 10.
Sounds like a bone head move. |

Draft a goalie in the first round with UPL in the pipeline.
That's even dumber than trading down those 3 spots. |

Again, Lundell is said to be pretty on par with those guys.. So there's the fourth. And the over riding thought was Nash moving up FOR Askarov. |

I didn't make the premise, someone mentioned there was video from the Nash room or something of them talking about moving up to 8 to take Askarov. Whether that is true or not, no idea. I was going off of that premise. Either way, my point that I was making was that it was a good move to go up and get JJP if he was their guy. I put that in the "W" column for KA. |

Starting to look like a value contract now.
3rd line winger - scored 12 goals last year.
Decent penalty killer

The trade back would’ve been good, but he would’ve nullified it by using 37,38 anyways. So result would’ve been the same.
The overall issue is he was willing to pay a price to move into the 20’s for a guy who very well could’ve been there at 38, and was there at 34.
Like I said, I won’t hammer him for it or be that annoyed, but it’s not something they should always do |
