10 points in 41 games with Vegas this past season while being bad defensively is what I would certainly call bad.

Is Eakin getting cushy offensive zone starts with high end talent like Laine and Ehlers?

Don't you want the Eichel and Staal lines to take the bulk of the offensive zone starts?

- kingcong39

i really dont know anything about him, is he bad defensively?

22 goals 2yrs ago qualifies as “really bad” in your opinion?
- jdfitz77

He shot 18.5 % that year. He’s a career 11% shooter.

He was awful all of last year with Vegas and Peg.

He ain’t good

Yes.

He has a reputation of being good defensively because he tries hard and will be physical, but his defensive results suck

Very much so, yes.

He shot 18% the year he scored 22 goals and substantially outshot his expected goals for rate.

His role on Bufalo is going to make it difficult for him to produce offense, and you have to believe every opposing team will single out his line as the matchup for their own top line to feast on.

So he's the forward version of Ristolainen?

He’s a decent bottom6 player who has also shown he can move into the top6 with talented players & perform well if needed

There’s obviously better players out there
But Eakin fits an obvious hole we needed filled

Ok. Let’s find more players that have played for Ralph...

Ralph’s 2016 Team Europe Roster...

Goalies.... greiss, grubauer, halak

D-men... chara, ehroff, Josi, sbisa, sidenburg, sekera, streit

I won’t do the forwards but, rieder was on that team...

In Edmonton, Yak was the first overall pick

The roster included...

goalie-Dubnyk

D- Justin Schultz, pekham, perty, smid, fistrik

I’m curious what Schultz might have left in the tank at LD. I don’t think he signed. Is he any better than McCabe? He’s had some injury issues. But maybe an interesting buy low.

And I am surprised Yak still hasn’t joined the Sabres. Lol.

Bring me Yakapovsted!

Edit - Schultz signed with Washington

I’d say difference is Eakin doesn’t have cult like group of people who won’t admit he isn’t really good after 7 years

He’s also not horrible
And i didn’t call him “good”
He’s a fine 3rd liner

Took u less than 24hrs to stop being happy about Hall, and start b!tching again dude

Could we have done better?
Tough to say players were/are thinking of us as a “destination”

He did it for 8 games with Winnipeg playing with 2 big time offensive players in Ehlers and Laine.

Chances that was going to continue long term?

Luke Adam also had a nice short run offensively once.

It doesn't mean that is the kind of player either is.

Taylor (frank)ing Hall.

For the first time in Sabres history, the best UFA signed with Buffalo.

Of course not, but don't be surprised if he's bad defensively, his line is frequently cratered in shots, chances, high danger chances, and goals, and he puts up 25 points for the season.

This all remains true.

Go read Hall's letter to Buffalo. He's here 100% because of Krueger

- sbroads24

He’s lying. Can’t be because of Ralph. All the posts I read last year and most of this summer had Ralph as one of the worst coaches ever. Not to mention how dumb Adams is.
Maybe there was a plan to change the culture and bring in some more leadership and players that want to win in Buffalo.

Yet you’ve managed to dedicate two pages on Eakin yourself.

It’s amazing the mental gymnastics you do on here to pretend like we are the annoying ones

Eakins is a 3C. That’s a great role for him.

A depth player has up and down seasons. Hence why they are depth players.

Every analytics darling player 3rd liner has also been up and down points wise depending on the season.

Can we move on though?
Or does this need to be the focus?

You are female digging about a 3C ....

How many points do you want your 3C to have each season production wise??

At 2.5 at 3C. I expect 25-30 points anything else is a bonus
