I’d also heard that Pittsburgh wants him back. I’m not sure how much “sweetener” there is going to be available. MAF has some high end skill. If you want him, you’re going to have to make some sacrifice.

Honest question.... do we think after that surgery DeKeyser is gonna be ready to play? I mean a disc pressing against a nerve on your spine is intense stuff and not exactly easy surgery.... not too mention he wont have skated in a real game situation in what almost a year and half by the time we get going again? Oct 19 he got injured right?

Yeah that's a fair question. I think as long as DDK is still pretty close to the player he was before the injury he's going to be better than Staal, although given the nature of his surgery and his age that's definitely not guaranteed.

Yeah agreed.

Relatedly, Talbot was my top target in goal at the start of the day because I assumed he'd come in pretty cheap for what he provides, but 3 years at north of $3m per is not great.

Also Khudobin is good but he's 35 and Dallas gave him three years (!!!!).

Meanwhile Holtby only got two years (not that I think he's got much left, regardless) and King Henrik (still an above-average NHL goalie) signed for just $1.5m.

I don't get the goalie market, man.

Got it. Didnt know if they waived him before that deadline or not is really what I was getting at. But I dont know if the full transaction has to be completed, or just initiated, for Buyouts.
