Nothing like getting a 2C for free. I'd laugh my ass off if Brisebois puts Gourde on waivers too and Stevie claims him. But I'm not sure about the waiver rules. I think if a team claims a player off waivers then they're last in the next waiver claim. But I don't know for sure. - gergeswillems
I don't think so. As far as i know Wings would be first and could claim any players as long as they keep them in the NHL. |

Yes, I am fairly certain you are correct. Waiver priority does not change regardless of how many claims a team makes. It's strictly based on standings -- last year's standings up to a certain point of the season, then points percentage for the current season for the rest of the year. |

That's what i thought too.
Man i was looking over the Ladd contract and whoever made up that contract created one of the biggest poison pills contract i have ever seen. Buying him out only saves like 600K of cap hit for 3 years. 31.5 million of his 38.5 million contract are in bonuses...that's insane. It would take a 1st plus Whalstrom or Dobson for anyone to want to take that contract on. |

Would hate having that contract, on a player trending downward in capability and return on investment. But if we could snag Whalstrom or Dobson, I'd be on that like a fat kid on a doughnut.....Wonder what the financial issues would be if he was buried in the minors 🤔🤔 |

I suppose the Bolts could trade Killorn to Detroit along w/ Taylor Raddysh for a 2nd or 3rd. |

Well his bonus of 3 million for this season was paid in July so he would only cost 1 million this season in actual money but his cap hit when in the AHL would still be like 4 mil. Next two years after that would be 4 mil in actual money (3mil bonus per year and 1 mil in salary) and around 4 mil cap hit in the AHL.
Buying him out would be a 4.3 mil cap hit for the next 3 years plus 3 more years of a 333K cap hit. This contract was pretty much buyout proof with so much of it in bonuses. For a player that isn't even NHL caliber anymore, that is truly a horrible contract to take on. Hell he only had 14 points in 34 games and was a -11 in the AHL...not even a guy you can send down thinking he will improve your AHL team. More than likely he just mails it in now and just cashes his checks. |

You. Da. MAN!!
Ok, I feel a bit better. Still could use a d-man, but we know we're not cup contenders. Be nice to see TJ come to Hockeytown, but bringing in Griess is a damn good move to get us through the next couple of years..... |

I would take it for a 1st and Whalstrom or Dobson though. You just let him play it out or buy him out if you don't want him in the AHL...the cap hit would be minimal once the Wings are ready to compete. |

Yzerman did say he is still looking for 1 defenseman and 1 forward. I'm still hoping for Gustafsson for defense. Forward has to be a center i would imagine for the 2nd line. |

That makes sense....would be sweet if they'd be willing to ship Whalstrom....he does impress, Dobson's shown flashes of brilliance. We'd have to take the whole slary in order to push that ask to either of those 2....Just think of our D: Seider, Hronek, Whalstrom/Dobson, McIssac....damn good Top 4 🤔🤔 |

Gustafsson has 221GP with 119pts & a -3....good size, got some game in him.....could be interesting. Wondering if The Captain is pushing for TJ 🤔🤔 |

Hmmmmm.....could still sign him, but now we're competing with everyone else....He'd have been a good Get. Still time. I like the moves so far, good feeling about the guys brought in. |

Wahlstrom is a center/right winger drafted 11th overall in 2018. 6'2, 211 pound 20 year old right handed shot.
I don't think Islanders would want to trade either of those guys but to get rid of Ladd, they would need to give up something really good. The only other prospect that might make sense to me is RD Bode Wilde. |

TJ is NOT a good get at that price. He will certainly waive his NTC to play just about anywhere now. Stevie only takes him on with a sweetener.

TJ isn't a UFA. This wasn't unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout (that deadline ended). Now Tampa is still stuck with TJ and have to figure out what to do to clear cap space. They can attempt to trade TJ again and hold some salary to make a trade and hope he expands his no trade list to include anyone willing to have him now that he cleared waivers. They might have to look at other options to clear cap space too. |

I knew that....😑....dorked up trying to type on my phone....😖 trying to cut-n-paste when i can't see. I need a bigger screen!!! The fact that Ladd is wasted $$ kinda forces consideration of drastic moves. Flat-cap doesn't help.... |

Oh crap!! I forgot about that!!! Good catch. So now Tammpa's stuck. No one to a flier on him, so that's gotta be a bit of a slap in the face....his back's against a wall. Be interesting to see how this plays out!!!🍿🍿🍿 |

Maybe it's something like this...
To Detroit: Tyler Johnson (Tampa retains 1 mil), Taylor Raddysh, 2nd Rd pick
To Tampa: Signed Uwe Krupp dogsled |
