Maybe they decide to leave Zadina in Europe for this season like some of the others. They can also just let them all battle it (Timashov, Gagner, Svetch and Erne) and whoever doesn't earn a spot gets waived or traded (if possible).

Assuming he's healthy I would be very surprised if Zadina stays in Europe. I think he has pretty much proven he belongs in the NHL.

I would not be surprised to see one or more of the above guys get before the season starts. The question is if there will be anywhere for them to play if not the NHL. I am pessimistic about the chances of the AHL even getting a season going, and Euro leagues are already in progress (and wouldn't have nearly enough openings to accommodate the mass influx of NA minor leaguers that would be out of work anyway).

This just occurred to me as how smart Stevie really is:
What if he seen this nightmare Tampa is having with the cap and all the NTC's he signed players to, and decided to move to a team that can benefit from all that chaos he helped make??
I think some of these recent value signings may be traded for much better players in the near future or the Wings actually snag one on an offer sheet.
An offer sheet to Shergechev under $6.5M and abovr $6M AAV will certainly get the ball rolling!! Only have to give up a 1st and a 3rd if it goes thru! But I think another GM will offer it and Stevie will gladly "bail out" BB. (Only to offer more "help" later)

I agree that Zadina belongs in the NHL but it wouldn't surprise me much if they decided to keep him in Europe for this season.

If there is no AHL season then what are NHL teams suppose to do for call ups? Maybe teams will have a black ace team like for the playoffs where those guys can train, practice and scrimmage to stay ready if needed i don't know. I still don't know what the NHL and teams will do if there is a bunch of guys that test positive for a team. A lot of questions will need to be answered before they can have an NHL season.

A team like Colorado would be in perfect position to offer sheet Sergachev. They have the cap space, the need for a defenseman and their picks. Losing a 1st to them is not like the Wings, for them it will likely be a late 1st and the chance to get a player as good or better is way lower. They need to give Landeskog a bit of a raise next year and a big one to Makar but they will have a ton of cap space to do that and way more.

That's just when it's scheduled. They can reach a deal before that. There's no way Bert is getting more than Larkin or Mantha.

Spent the day steam-cleaning carpets in the house. Jump on just to see NAMESTNIKOV!?!?!?! SWEET move!! Little but of a log-jam, as several posts indicated since the announcement. But what a breath of fresh air for a situation to be in, huh?!? The Captain has a pretty good track record with Russian players and I'm looking forward to seeing where he plays. Many stated 2C as a possibility, and I tend to agree. We'll see how camp goes.

Zadina will definitely be on the big club. What happens to Svec & Ras, I wonder. Good points about the AHL not being active this year, makes call-ups very interesting.

So, I wan't advocating for Little Bert to make more than Larkin, but this kid hauls the mail with the same intensity & passion as Larkin. Saw multiple opinions that Manth gets done, then Little Bert. Probably true. Am hoping this doesn't go to arbitration, I'm just hoping the deal is done before the arbitration date. I'm positive he'll be paid well. Great point about to being Offered, so there's comfort there!!!

After all's said & done, looks like the cupbord's stocked with some good character and folks out to prove their worth: Reclamation projects?? Draft went well, Free Agency went well. Now we have to sit around waiting for Training Camp!!! Think i' going to re-new NHL Center Ice this year!!!!

Biggest breath of fresh air is to see players actually excited to be signing with the red wings again!

I did not realize that Jeremy Bracco is a UFA, at 23 yoa I would imagine he is at least worth a 2-way deal......but maybe he will hold out for a 1-way deal???

Stats look good. Where would we put him? If the AHL doesn't play this year, would have to find someplace for him

Brings up a good point that was alluded to earlier in a post: What happens if the AHL doesn't kick off? What happens to the players who don't/can't play in Europe? What about call-ups? Interesting development that'll have wide-ranging impacts....

Each NHL team will carry 6 additional "black aces" on their squads. Like in the play-offs.....but I am not sure on the # they are allowed in the play-offs.
