Yea he is a solid pick. I think people are bashing it cause usually when you trade up its for something with a little more higher upside.

That's basically it. It'd be like trading up in the NFL draft for a 2 down run stuffing Nose Tackle/0 Technique guy. You need him on the team, he's just not an all situations player and can usually be found in other ways.

In a vacuum yes, but isn't he pretty much a Chytil clone to an extent? I'm not sure I want 2 of them on my team.

Right, but if they missed out on Wennberg and signed Johnson I wouldn't mind

It's also only a 1 year deal, we could hypothetically sign him next summer

yes, true as well

This could also benefit us down the road if they start shedding salary/changing things up.

Pretty good comparison. That run stuffing guy is one of the best players on the team, but isn't considered as such because it isn't flashy. We have Fox and potentially ADA to do the flashy stuff, we need the really good in the trenches stuff.

but the insinuations that we drafted another McIlrath here are just not accurate

Schneider is a really good skater, passer and is going to contribute on both ends of the ice

he's got more upside than Skjei had

Even if we had drafting Mcilrath at 19 was way different than at 10. I'm with you, I think this guy is going to be really good. He could be Girardi with better puck skills and that would be amazing.

He plays a nastier game than G. He likes wrecking people. Girardi was all "Sorey aboot that mister"

I really liked Schneider going into the draft

doing the mock draft and picking for Florida, I came really close to taking him at 12, but couldn't resist Jack Quinn

Im still pissed AF we passed on Tarasenko. My friends still give me poop about that draft when our number got called and they chose McIlrath. There might be a pic of me somewhere and my reaction.

I was yelling at my TV from pick 4 on that I wanted them to trade for Fowler, that's probably as mad as I have ever been with something the Rangers did
