I wouldn’t be too upset if they tried to bring in Wennberg & Athanasiou for $1.5m each. Wennberg could find chemistry with Panarin as Strome did. Couple that with KAPPO on the right and we could see KAPPO pot 25-30goals. Athanasiou would be great on the 3rd line with Chytil and Buchnevich, if he’s still here because, yes, I placed Lafreniere on the top line with Zib & Kreider.
On Left D we can let Smith work with Libor Hajek and or Rykov could also get a shot. Sorry Strome. Here’s your walking papers. What say you?

Also not sure why Anderson contract is being seen as outrageous when Kreider got 7x45 at 29. Is Kreider that much better? I would argue no. - mdw7413
I don't think Kreider gets that deal now that we are in a COVID world. In fact, if the Rangers knew that the world was going to shut down, I submit they would have TRADED him at the deadline rather than sign him...
Point is, Anderson plays a physical game that involves a lot of hitting. Now that he has had a serious shoulder injury that involved surgery, why would you sign him to such a long term deal not even knowing he can still play physical style?

Valid point, but I'm assuming he had all the medical clearances, etc. My only point is he was a monster under Torts and only getting better till the injury, and he is only 26.

yeah I agree about Kreider, had the Rangers known the cap was staying at 81 million potentially for another 3 years and were going to get Lafreniere, I dont think they sign Kreider for what they did, how long they did and with a NMC
If Vegas trades for Deangelo I wonder if the rangers would ask for Cody Glass. Not sure how he’s considered nowadays, but he was a 6th overall pick. I feel like Glass wouldn’t be enough, but he is a young center. Perhaps he hasn’t gotten a real chance yet and could be a homerun

I was thinking Peytom Krebs, but I think Rangers would have to throw in Vinatieri
Mattias Janmark will be a popular guy. As I mentioned earlier, Colorado, Toronto, Montreal and Nashville have their sights on him. Can add the NY Rangers too, they have interest in pursuing him.

Jesper Fast hasn't closed the door on a return to the Rangers, but there will be a lot of teams calling him soon, including the Maple Leafs.
Do are we starting to accept that Kreider might slide to RW to play with LAF and Zib? Personally I think its a smart career move on his part. - aecliptic

I don't think Lafreniere is going to start on the 1st line. Just knowing Quinn, he might end up there during the season, but not sure he starts there

I say that if you are planning for Buch on the 3rd line, I'd rather trade him for a couple of 2nd's and re-sign Fast.
And, are you moving Kreider or LAF to the right side? I'd prefer to shelter him in the beginning. Bread/Kreider/LAF is about the best left side in the league, IMO. Maybe when he's ready to move up, Kreids moves down to 3LW and provides energy and a deeper threat for offense.

Love how the Maple Leafs all the sudden have all this money to sign everyone

Maple Leafs need all the defensive help they can get. Poor Fast will be lost there
