Yup. He can help the Oilers while helping himself. Gives us time to season Bouchard a bit more, give him some games with sheltered minutes. You are right, It’s actually a win-win, despite your passive aggressive cheap shot that didn’t go completely unnoticed. - HonkyTonkMan
There was no passive aggressive shot intended. He was not put in a position to succeed in Toronto and ended up having a mediocre season. |

My bad. He knows he’ll be an upgrade to the leagues best powerplay, a return to 50+ plus points will get him the attention he wants, even if he’s a defensive liability. |

With Edmonton. It's all over Twitter from all the verified guys.

Tyson Barrie turned down more money elsewhere to join the #Oilers, including a $6 million offer. - MaximumBone
This very much shocks me. |

Any guesses as to who he’ll be paired with? |

Whomever Tippett thinks is the best fit is my guess. |

The Oilers did some nice work. They’re a better team today and they didn’t break the bank to accomplish it. Barrie probably figures that he will pile up the points this year and sign a big contract next season. |

Yeah, a pleasant surprise. It seems clear that Holland wants more offense out of the team. Neither Turris nor Barrie are good defensive players, but I saw it phrased in a way that struck me as a good way to view it:
Sometimes you can't build the perfect team with every role filled perfectly. In times like those, the best plan is to add the best players you can and roll the dice. A flat cap world with deadwood leftover from Chiarelli's tenure is perhaps precisely such a time. |

With a whole team's worth of cap space opening up next year in Seattle and Seattle's proximity to his hometown Victoria, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he went there. Maybe it even occurs in the special UFA negotiation period they get and thus saves us from the expansion draft (iirc). |

You’re right, I wasn’t even thinking about the Kraken. |

Barrie could do well in Edmonton.
I’m sure he’s motivated and clearly betting on himself.
He’s your new Marc-Andre Bergeron, very similar players. |

Holland’s overall performance this FA period has been a pleasant surprise as well. |

Extremely happy about the barrie signing.
Only area of concern for now is finding a bonafide starter. |

Koskinen was fine last year and a good enough 1A so long as we can add someone reasonably capable as a 1B. Dell is my preferred option on the UFA route and Kuemper or Raanta via the trade route. |

I dunno Honky, just my thought.
Where are Iggy, Jero and Horseguts? |

Could be worse, we could've tried to resurrect Jimmy Howard from a 2-23 season |

100% agree. Oilers and Barrie will be better next season (hopefully it starts by mid 2021) |

I'd probably have preferred that because it would've at least been less than 1mil. To spend 2mil on a guy that was among the worst 5 goalies in the league last year is just dumb. |

The Leafs have been mayyyybe a C-Hair better than the Oilers over the last decade in the weakest division in the league. Also a terrible and embarrassing franchise....but tell us how great they have been some more, please. 👍 - HonkyTonkMan Weakest Division😂😂🤣🤣 Who hoisted the Cup this year? The Oilers wouldn't sniff top 3 in the Atlantic

Told you fackers I had a source close to the Coilers and that it’s been Holland’s plan to bring back Smith all along.
He was actually pissed at Tip for not sticking with him in the playoffs from what I hear. |

He also literally said that he'd keep lines of communication open with Smith in multiple media availabilities where he said he'd circle back to him if nothing else on the market made sense. Big "source" you've got there. |

Don’t believe our goaltending will be a problem. Getting this group to commit to a defensive structure is the key. It’s starts with the stars and goes all the way to the bottom. They have all the offence they need. Just NEED to buy in. |
