So on day 2, nothing makes more sense than Mike Smith?

After he talked to like 6 different goalies on the market, yeah, apparently. You don't have a source.

Yeah the DrunkenCanuck doesn’t have any insider knowledge whatsoever. Classic internet bullpoopter.

Barrie is horrible defensively and an incredibly greedy player. All he was concerned about in Toronto was trying to pad his offensive numbers as it was an UFA coming year. So glad most of the hockey world was able to see. His dreams of a long term contract with 7 mil or more per years is squashed. Meanwhile I'm sure he hopes that by playing with McDavid et al on the PP he can put up offensive numbers. Just as I know all knowledgeable Oiler fans will quickly hate him and pray he signs elsewhere the following season.

I'll look forward to seeing what he does on offense to see if it mitigates the clear defensive shortcomings. By the numbers, he definitely achieved that in Toronto under Keefe. The games under Babcock are a completely different story.

The moves made by Holland signal that they're not intending to contend for the Cup this year which doesn't actually bother me. Big cap space opens up next year alongside the Seattle draft which could mean some potential for deals to be found.
