Thanks Carol
Off books:
- Sutter @ 4.3
- Pearson @ 3.7
- Sven @ 3.3
- Edler @ 6
- Benn @ 2
- Spooner @ 1
- Demko, Petey, Hughs @ 1 each
That's roughly 23.3 mil coming off the books, not including any potential trades (LE, Beagle, Rous all candidates – especially at TDL if they're out of the playoffs) and if Seattle is claiming someone that is a roster player.
Additions:
- Petey @ 7-8 (I think they will go bridge deal)
- Hughes @ 7-8
- Demko at 3
That's about 17-19 mil added back on, giving 4-6 mil to fill out the roster. We can assume Podkolzin and Hoglander will be in the lineup, with potentially Tryamkin coming over as well. I think things will be fine. They're a bit handcuffed in adding any BIG names, but if they move a contract then it's fine. - NewYorkNuck
You're forgetting RP QH bonuses of 1.5 each, so add 3m for those.
Don't assume under market value for QH EP, market value is greater then 8.5
You show 1x top 6 forward gone, 1x top 4 D gone and by your numbers 5 new players to be added.
Let's assume league minimum contracts on those. .75 x 5 is 3.25m for those 5 players, including a goaltender.
By your numbers 4 to 7m... 7 best case minus the roll over bonuses of 3m is 4.
So, again by your numbers assuming EP QH take 7m and demko takes 3, that's 20m back on and 23.3 off.
Looks like we'll be replacing Sutter, Edler, Holtby, Pearson and Benn for 3.3m(with your very optimistic contact numbers)... so we'll have 5x 750k players joining the team next year. Awesome you've changed my mind, gonna be able to sign some great players for that number.... also we'll definitely need to trade virt unless he takes the min. |

Benning should kick some tires on Letang. Long shot but RH D fits the bill for a couple seasons. |

From what I found, only schedule A bonuses apply to the cap, so EP + QH bonuses are 1.7 in total.
I can't assume their value, but you can? Where are you getting their market value from? What comparables in a flat salary cap are there at the moment?
7 + 7 + 3 = 17, not 20.
How am I adding 5 new players, and a goalie? You're making this hard to follow. We need to replace, from my list, Sutter, Pearson, Edler, and Benn. We have Demko and Holtby signed through that season.
So if you're going to make asinine comments, at least make sure you actually do the math properly |

Thanks Carol its a new reality for sure given the changing circumstances. Not subscribing to the sky is falling crowd and haters live for these moments to add fuel to the fire.
Reality is ELC's in top positions are going to be the new normal in Covid market. Its a good thing Canucks have some options there with talent that can continue the uptrend. |

Toffoli 4/4.75m
He didn’t do anything much on his last contract to earn much of a raise. |

ELC’s in bottom 6 & bottom pairing.
Vets will continue to be squeezed on contracts.
More middle class signings less big contracts.
Shorter terms eg 1yr 2yr & more player movement will be the new model. |

Not saying the other things you mention won't happen but top talent will always get paid and fitting a bunch on a contending team in the new reality won't be possible without having an ELC or 2 in a top position. |

Did tampa have many? Cirelli and Cernak, arguably no core pieces on ELC. Either way, need to keep filling the cupboards. If they shore up the right side this is still a dam good team. |

Replace tanev with an older guy that plays even less games than tanev. Hell of a player, can’t see pens moving him or the point in a young team trading fir him. |

Gonna need some Calder Trophy performances from some young defensemen if the Canucks live up to certain top ten predictions next season |

Waiting it out could be smart. Throw his hat in the ring later to drive up the price & shut out VGK. Let AP sign elsewhere would be a better option. Don’t wanna see him in Vegas. Idk who else would be that mystery team. We’d have to buy out a few players if we have a chance. Meaning certain bridge deals for Petey & Hughes for 2 years. If JB talks to them both to see if they are on board with that it could be worked out. |
