Still don’t buy it. He gave JB the green light to acquire a guy making 8M, 10.5M, 10.5M, 10.5M during the next 4 years. Even with giving up a Sutter or Roussel + Virtanen, that’s the exact opposite of penny pinching.

I think ownership flat out told JB that he has to ask them before signing anyone or trading for any anyone with term. And ownership is only approving big names like OEL.

I agree you should move on at that point, the only theory that makes sense is offering 1 year deals to UFA for this season and then taking advantage of teams before the expansion draft

Since we'll never actually know the truth, i'm going to go with the 'wait out the salary anchors' theory and reload for the following year, hoping to take advantage of other teams in similar salary crunch situations.
