I don’t see a lot of unwavering support, just not the soothsayer level of negativity coming from the crowd that can’t stand Benning. Benning still needs to deliver but these end of the world and bottom ten predictions are premature...especially with a core of Petey, Hughes, Bo, and Miller...games are won and lost on the ice, not on paper. - CoolerHeads
There's not much left to say after years of saying "that UFA signing is atrocious and will bite them in the ass when they truly need the money down the road". |

I would have signed him and traded Boeser for a top 4RHD - Pres.cup
Lotto Line stays in tact and those stupid trade rumors put to bed may be the best result of TT moving on |

Its a bird in hand pivot is my guess. Once OEL failed no point in investing in vets. Also Marky was a 50/50 to see what they had in Demko at no point where they offering NMC.
So now they pivoted from expansion woes to being set up to grab someone.
In the meantime they see where the prospects are at given that they don't have access to top roles elsewhere. This is more pronounced under Covid times vets have filled up Euro league rosters and NA leagues in shambles. - NuckUp

While I never favoured those signings I don't think you knew of Covid and flat cap as the new world order. |

With covid looking to be around for awhile yet it’s best to play it conservative. Pounce if opportunity arises or patiently work in the kids. |

Even without the flat cap, the moment those contracts were signed I expressed that they were going to bite us in the ass and cause us to lose players down the road. V and I fought several times about it.
TT is a victim of this, honestly we could have offered Hall 8m.....
Anyways I was right and that's all that really matters....

Maybe you're right.
ok, this is my new theory.
Aquaman has a direct line to Dr Bonnie and has the inside scoop that there will be no NHL season next year!
JB and FA are laughing at all these signings, knowing the competition are just burning $$

Gawd if only the above were true!
My apologies, I didn’t realize the Canucks had lost Petey and Hughes as a result of “cap problems”

Whatever, long overdue but we didn't go out shopping.
JB seems to think he has talent within to fill holes. I guess we'll see how he is at evaluating his own talent.
I mentioned months ago that Covid would shoulder the blame for the inability to spend but the truth is that it's LE, Sutter, Beagle, Myers, Roussel. I mean even trading a 2nd for Sven early in the rebuild.
If he's turned the corner on bad FA deals then i'm all in but after six years of drafting he'd better have some answers other than QH, Boeser and EP, possibly Demko solving the team's talent problems.
If not, then we really have to question even the drafting "prowess". I've not been a huge fan of Benning over the years mainly because of his trading away draft picks and overpaying for underperforming FA's. If the talent he's drafted over the past half decade can start filling some major holes i'll be impressed. If not, i'm looking for a new GM. |

How do you know that I didn't anticipate that? I can be quite intuitive at times.
I've been preparing for a new world order for a long time. |

Schmidt to Florida or Winnipeg seems to be the popular guess |

That still wouldnt make them cap compliant. I just hope teams dont make it easy on them. |

I've been too lazy too check, I guess they move Martinez too or maybe they found a Fleury taker? Will definitely be interesting. |

Dang.
Good on Petro.
That's some serious coin/term for a 30 yr old.

Depends, teams always "bail out" Tampa since they do such a good job of signing quality players to reasonable contracts so the players they offer up are rarely "dumps". Vegas probably would've been in that boat as well if this was a normal year with a rising cap, Martinez easily gets moved, Fleury is more of na typical cap dump, but with retention probably he becomes an easier sell as well if the cap went up.
If they move Schmidt, Id assume there would be a mini bidding war, he's better than his cap hit. |

TBL hope not facing less & less cap around the league for their own dumps. |
