Zen patience to not fold and over pay on UFA's to be in position to take advantage is very shrewd. More so knowing that when Blues gave up on Petro and that just left VGK there was opportunity.

He is a decent defenseman, but is 29 and signed for 5 more years at 6 million.
The cost to acquire him versus a younger defenseman need to be weighed, whether it be a Cernak/Sergachev/Carlo or take a chance with a player like Bowey.
I don't believe 1 defenseman is going to fix this team, so let's carry-on with the rebuild
