One more trade like this and I’ll forgive him. - pker2theend
Lol
Hard to say if more are coming. I think we are fairly set to see how this group does. |

Would love them to get Leivo back! Think he can be had on the cheap...
Definitely need to move Sutter or Sven right now. - NewYorkNuck
He's on nobody's radar right now. He'd take anything the Canucks throw at him. Its not a priority to add his contract now while they look for other opportunities or try to move out contracts. |

The only downside to giving him a year deal for peanuts is using a contract slot, meanwhile the upside is getting a useful 3rd line winger who can be a stopgap on the 2nd line if needed. It's not like he'll have a contract so big that waiving him will cost the Canucks cap space
How is the upside not worth the cost? |

I think someone needs to be moved regardless. Not sure what other top 6 guys are out there.
That said if a 3rd gets Schmidt, I could see another trade. - belcherbd
Cernak might be a real opportunity. |

If Jake goes to arbitration the Canucks get a 2nd buyout window, so I would expect they get rid of Sven and probably 1 other player. - Reubenkincade
Ok but why?
My take is we can run with what we have & let contracts expire after 1 year not 2 on buyouts. Sutter Sven & Benn. Buyouts maybe the following year. Also the next TDL is another opportunity to move out a player or 2. |

His cap hits the moment signed so saying other priorities until they need him first its not as if he's going anywhere anytime soon. |

Holy poop, impossible not to love that deal! What a steal. This is like adding JT Miller but without giving up the 1st. For me, that just made this offseason a B+. |

Banking on 3 rookies - Hogs, OJ & Rafferty - pretty bold.
I’d prefer Tryamkin over Benn or Rafferty in this lineup - SlightlyOffside
OJ with Myers will be ok.
Rafferty platooned.
Hoglander 3rd line mins will be sufferable.
Tryamkin & Pod May 1st injection maybe. |

I like Hoglander, but having him as a lock seems bizarre. He's tracking decently for a higher pick but it's not like he's being viewed as a lock by scouts and people who watch him play like EP and Hughes were after their D+1 seasons
I'd at least sign Leivo for peanuts and look into adding in an experienced depth dman for when Edler gets injured. - Nucker101
Forgot Leivo. He’s a solid must to fit in somehow |

Maybe you should look at capfriendly, then add on Jakes roughly 3 million award, i think maybe then you will realize that hey, the Canucks are now over the cap. |

You can go over the cap by 10% during the off-season so that's basically irrelevant |

I’m firmly anti-Leivo. Let MacEwen show he’s what Ferland was supposed to be & give Lind a shot. |

Like you've said, signing him means more moves would have to be made. Like last year, we have a glut of forwards:
JTM - Petey - BB
Pearson - Bo - Ferland
Leivo - Gaudette - Virtanen
Motte - Beagle - MacEwen
Sutter, LE, Sven, Roussell |

You think Hoglander isn't ready but Lind is? I see Hoglander as being much closer than Lind. |

The difference is I’m talking about Hoglander in a top 6 role and Lind in a bottom 6 role. Hoglander can play now but he might not produce enough to deserve a role where he should be played. |

Yeah and as tight as they are now they need it if to pounce on another opportunity. Its too bad they won't be able to have chance to remove Ferland/LE until season start. |

Then we're back to being left with Benn as our number 2 RHD
Myers is here for a stretch. |

I feel the same way about Lind as you do about Leivo lol. Lind seems like such a tweener to me, doesn't have speed to create separation, doesn't have the strength to be a cycle player, doesn't have the skill to dangle and create space against NHL dmen. Has decent hands and vision, and I love how much he stirs poop up, but I'm not seeing it with him.
Would love to be wrong |

Hoglander would have to come in on the third line to start, like most other prospects do. He'd need to be sheltered. Can't put the pressure of scoring with Petey or playing shutdown with Bo right away.
I think he's just more ready and able for that. |

I don't expect them to go after any more big tickets, at most a 4M guy if they can dump Sutter on someone and want to trade Jake too. |
