Jake is in the roster @2.5m with 1.1m left over. Buyouts are still a possibility. - Nighthawk
What?
The Canucks have 1.9 million of capspace available, right now, using your number of 2.5 million, makes the team 600k over the limit, with no more nhl calibre players left to sign, something has to give, which isWHY, i said buyout Sven and possibly someone else.
You originally asked me why and posted some armchair GM crap that I didn't bother looking at, as it had nothing to do with reality of the current cap situation nor the options that might be available to the team, ie, buyouts as they will be over the cap limit, and trading of some of the high cost players is probably unrealistic as is an ATM

He's banking on Ferland LTIR and Eriksson/Baertschi in minors which works if you can clear enough salary for day 1. I think Ferland starts the season so they'll need to clear extra space.

Can keep both Sven & Loui & not promote 2 kids & have the cap for it. Of course I have Ferland on LTIR given he has rarely been off it. Lol

Yeah, I think Ferland's too stubborn/proud/competitive/whatever word you want to use to give up yet. If he doesn't have any symptoms and is cleared for contact, the Canucks can't force him on LTIR until he takes a hard hit to the upper body and inevitably ends up out again.

Ferland can't be on LTIR to start season, he needs to be on day 1 roster prior to being placed on LTIR.

Rumour is it that his contract in uninsured so more motivation for him to try. He and his agent have already said he will be at camp.

Inner ear problem was last injury. Nobody has updated the recent reason.

Uninsured would be the Canucks problem, no? Like the David Clarkson thing with Columbus?
He and his agent should be doing their research and get in contact contact with a head/neck injury specialist that has experience dealing with high profile athletes. I believe that Lapierre kid who got drafted in the first round this year went to see a specialist in Boston who treated him, I think Ferland would be wise to look into someone like that.
How about talking about reality and not armchair gm via capfriendly.

There's plenty of places in BC that have really good experts in concussions, a couple of years ago when some bumhole let a box of canned good fall from about 10 feet because he hadn't secured it on the shelf properly on the back of my head I literally was stuck in my room with everything pitch black and silent and couldn't even talk to my wife without migraines ripping my head apart. I went to a place in Surrey (forget the name) and after going through their program, after about a month all my symptoms nearly went away because they knew how to deal with injuries of that type.
