Sutter is a foundation type player you win championships with..... - TheGame316
The Canucks were in several championships with Sutter, bottom 5 leaguewide championships.
I actually don't mind Sutter, but looking at current roster, he would be the one to go, if they have to resort to the buyout route. |

Another option is that they don't have to sign Gaudette. He can't be offer sheeted and has no arb so they can leave him on the QO until the season starts. Then shuffle the cap deck. - NuckUp
I guess. It would be a pretty sleazy move to qualify a player and then n
Make them wait if he agrees to the offer. |

Sutter was a pretty decent role player before his injuries piled up, he just got hate because of the cost to acquire him, his contract and WD overplaying him, but he was a useful role player for sure. But sadly the injuries have taken a toll and he went from being a smooth faster skater to more of a mediocre one. The groin/hernia injuries can really (frank) up an athlete's explosiveness. I think he's more up and down now, some nights he had juice in his legs and was effective, other nights his legs were dead and he was chasing the play all night.
So he's still useful, but just not going to be reliable enough to bring it every night.
Beagle on the other hand has flat out come useless at 5v5 outside of face-offs. Age has caught up to him, his legs can't keep up with his determination which is a shame. It's not for lack of effort, he's just lost a step.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing an agent and/or player will remember. |

You got that wrong its not force Gaudette on the QO. But leave him there until they can sort out cap room through other moves at start of season. Like a Ferland/LE cap move solution or trade someone when demand for filling rosters is higher.

You didn't read my post and read his error reply. There is no problem telling the agent and player who has zero leverage here we will negotiate when we clear our cap situation. |

What did I get wrong?
Sounds like you are saying that they leave a player hanging, after agreeing to an offer, pretty sleazy move. |

Everything No agreement was made on a QO. The we'll get back to you later after cap clearance is an honest negotiation. They used it with Tryamkin and Stecher. Those players had options and chose not to wait. Gaudette has none. But won't be harmed for it and will get paid for the season whatever it is they would have given him earlier. |

From an article on The Athletic a week ago:
"One final note here, on Micheal Ferland, because there could be significant salary cap ramifications based on what comes next in his Canucks tenure. Ferland is doing well back in Brandon, Man., and has dealt with no setbacks since departing the bubble on Aug. 4 with another apparent head injury.
All indications are that Ferland will give it another shot at training camp, but the possibility that he could be placed on LTIR โ which would permit the Canucks to exceed the upper limit of the salary cap by $3.5 million โ is one to monitor." |

Still giddy about this Schmidt deal. What's the D gonna shake out like?
Hughes - Schmidt
Edler - Benn/Rafferty
OJ - Myers
Edler and Myers together was a fire drill last year. Maybe they'll want to pair OJ and Myers as they'll be the "second pair" once Edler hangs them up next season? |

I think we will see Chatfield over Rafferty, as he is much better defensively and plays more aggressively.
Might even see Brisebois before Rafferty. |
