So, another young player that signed a 1 year deal? What do you guys think ...
A) show me deals
B) trade at the tdl
C) placeholder for others to develop
D) some sort of combination |
|

Wallmark 1 year at 950K on a one way contract.
Maybe the Hawks figure Smith and Shaw won't be able to play this year and feel by signing Janmark and Wallmark, they are giving the Entwistles, Hagels, Kurashevs, etc a year to marinate in Rockford.
Interesting that Wallmark is a C. Where's he going to fit in with Toews, Dach, Strome and Kampf in the picture.

Its Wallmark. - Elbows15
Thanks. I stand corrected.

I pick C - LAHawk
Keep their ELCs from starting Boqvist's did not need to start. Dach was different because we couldn't send him to Rockroach. |

E) Extra C on the team if they can't come to a deal with Strome?

The Hawks have extra forwards for sure, even if Smith is out for the year. I’m starting to wonder what the plan for Strome is. |

Teply is the only slide candidate. ELCs start in Rockford, too |

Wonder what he’d bring if we traded his rights. |

The huge divide may be from me not really touching most of the late first round so far.
And I actually haven't had time to look at Wheeler's thoughts either, just scanned the opening players which I thought were crazy incorrect...
I was taking off a few days since we have lots of time, and was concentrating on writing now, and didn't think about Matt Samoskevich, and I certainly didn't see him at June true as coming off the board higher than Brisson or Samuel Colangelo, whom the hawks seem to want.
Lot's a time to re-evaluate, but on your recommendation, I am moving "Sammy" to slot #35. - wiz1901
No, no, no!!! Wiz, without getting in the weeds here, and hell yea all kindsa time to slot/reslot players, I thought the exact same thing you did that Samo will go higher than Brisson???????????? Dude, I was surprised to see Samo ranked so high but do not know if he deserves it relative to his peers I have not seen yet.
18/19 Colangelo (17 yrs old) and Samo (16 yrs old) come up from preps to join the Steel late for the playoffs. I'm hearing Colangelo could very well go 1st rd the next yr by people like Mr Mastrosimone. Don't know Samo except what camp notes I took which were, ++ vision and hands, really creative, ++ skater. VerSteeg like in style, slinky.
First shift I'm a Samo guy. Oozing offensive IQ, nifty, shifty, Zegras lite kinda game and vision/creativity with no USHL experience. They end up getting swept in the Finals to a super structured bought in Sioux Falls squad. He plays much better than Colangelo to my eye, also seems the Steel are in love with Colangelo due to slotting.
All a sudden Samo ain't playing but Colangelo is and I'm kickin and sniveling where I post about Jrs hockey. Enough so that Ryan Hardy himself messages me the reason Samo ain't playing is he went back to Shattucks.
I'd argue Samo, a 16 yr old November birthday, was as good and dangerous as any Steel in the handful of playoff games he played and that with zero USHL games coming in. And on this roster!! https://www.eliteprospect...o-steel/2018-2019#players
Never a doubt for me he was a player going back to watching him live in camp. How good, we'll see, but I don't have the chops to say the 16 yr old I was watching then was an NHL 1st rounder, only that he could play. |

D) some sort of combination - I Am The Breadman C with some of b. Hopefully. Though neither Wallmark or Janmark will return more than 4th, it is at least the semblance of a plan. Otherwise, it is a rudderless ship |

Neither of the two signed today are replacements for Strome. Better defensively maybe but far worse offensively. Which is fine in the abstract but the trickle down effect makes the Hawks a lot worse offensively. Like struggling to score 2 goals a game offensively. |

Could the Hawks now package Strome+ for Danault? The Hawks have the space and would actually be very tough up the middle (Toews/Dach/Danault/4th Line C) |

Do they want strome back or are the hawks shopping him to see what value in return would come back. How long before one of core 4 asks to be traded? Being that they are pissed and upset with bowman. If this happens and its kane when does rockey step in considering kane is the biggest drawn for fans, if there are fans in stadium, stop coming and renewing their season tickets. I have couple of die hard blackhawks fans who have been season ticket holders for extremely long time and are not renewing the season tickets until JC and Bowman are gone. They fed up with both. Just wonder how other blackhawks fans feel the same way? |

E) Go cheap.
So far, all of these signings don’t equal the salaries of Crawford, Maatta and Saad - probably room for another minimum salary or two. |

Wiz,
I'm thinking ahead and visited your 2021 mock draft site to see who would be a good addition to the Hawks.
I don't know anything about any of these guys, but there are some cool names out there...Mason MacTavish, Aatu Raty, and Connor Roulette to name a few.

Scored 20 goals as a defenseman with Boston when that was unheard of. Had a wicked snap shot.
One of the first to permanently wear a helmet. My father used to say that was to keep his toupee on. - LAHawk
He's right. I saw him in a scrum once with two hands on that helmet and wouldn't let go. |

Janmark-Danault-Wallmark would be a pretty good checking line. Lots of speed and tenacity.

Nothing in a hard-cap league - especially if it’s a stagnant cap - lasts for years. |

I find it hard to believe with that roster that they won’t be contending for AT LEAST the next 4-5 seasons. They aren’t fading away or regressing any time soon. |
