E) Extra C on the team if they can't come to a deal with Strome? - boilermaker100
I think this could mean Strome is gone. Or Kampf (unless he moves to wing)??? |

Hawks have been and will continue to be stuck in mediocrity on this path Stanbow has us on. He really is just a bean counter that always tries to nibble around the edges for value. Never goes for the home run or the risky proposition. Its a slow death spiral.
Why was Rick Hahn successful? He made a decision to tank, didn't waffle, and traded good to great assets (Eaton, Sale, Quintana) at the most opportunistic times when the trade market was hot for these guys anticipating a playoff run.
STan is not capable of this. He doesn't have the vision or stomach. Or the leash... - busmaster
You think the trade market is hot!?!? |

I think they got some of that in Zadorov, Janmark, and Wallmark. They may not be who some of us wanted but I'm not terribly upset with what they can potentially bring ot the lineup.
A main concern is where do they play and who are they replacing. Zadorov is the only one who has an obvious spot carved out, i.e. Maatta's spot.
Janmark and Wallmark, not so much. As others have said, there is a logjam at forward, particularly the bottom 6. Some forwards are going to be on the outs.
More player movement still on the horizon so this seems to be only the front half of whatever Bowman has in mind for an offeseason plan. - Theo Fox
Theo do you think there is big trade on horizon including strome or one of core 4? |

Do you think Marky Mark can play 3C? Or put the Funky Bunch on the 4th line?

Not off the top of my head. But I would enjoy to see any names bloggers .mght research. I don't know if teams shedding salary (Vegas) could impact either Vegas itself or other teams insofar as the availability of a boards type wing becomes available. Not suggesting Tuch but whom is out there and might be available. - jhawk59
If there is a deal to be had with Vegas i like the hawks go after peyton Krebs. |

Big trade? Possibly if any of the core is truly fed up and wants out like Saad apparently wanted to be set free.
I would at least expect trades to free up space to play Janmark and Wallmark because right now, I really don't know where they play without letting some forwards go.
Forwards as they stand today without factoring in Janmark or Wallmark:
DeBrincat - Toews - Kubalik
Nylander - Dach - Kane
Suter - Strome - Shaw
Highmore - Kampf - Carpenter
Suter isn't a given but Bowman gave him high praise and stated he expects him to be on the Blackhawks this season, just like he said about Kubalik.
Without using the exact words, Bowman almost guarantees them a spot which he is careful not to say with draft picks or NCAA free agents like Kalynuk signed to ELCs.
I imagine Caggiula is as good as gone unless some of the forwards are traded to make room for him, too, in addition to the new guys. |

Through my rose colored glasses:
Hopefully ADB, Nylander and Dach increase there combined scoring by 20 gials to make up for the loss of Saad's 20 goals.
Does one of the goalies paly to a .912 save %.
IMO, the Hawks defense, (no Matta, KK, or Gus)is stronger than last years.
The Hawks overall forward crew is WAY more defensively responsible than last years.
If the above happens, maybe the Hawks can sneak in the final playoff spot. - LAHawk
Wow!! Keith a yr older, Seabs will be penciled in for some games, better chance than not pure rookie makes the roster, maybe Kalnyuk too and Zadorov (3rd pairing type) replacing what statistically (fancies) were their best pairing in Maata and KK.
Not disagreeing just curious your reasoning. ....... I'm a Murphy and DeHaan guy and expect a better Boqvist but not sure I see the defense better.

There's also a potential Maatta-like trade to ship out de Haan. Or a Saad-like trade involving Murphy for a more considerable return. |

These one year contracts are interesting. After the teams get past the Expansion Draft and look to change some parts of the roster in the Entry Draft and through early days of free agency, T Hall and other one year 2020 free agent signs will be free to move along.
Could you imagine a nicely developed Dach with T Hall and Kane, Toews and a coue hustle Rockford kids. Kubalik too. DeBrincat? I really hope Strome gone, as i bring Barrett in as he can provide better compete even agitating. Then too the other kids just referenced such as Hagel and Entwhistle along with posxibky re-signing Janmark & Wallmark gives us deoth and a lot if goid skaters. Even the dmen pridoects skate well. Beaudin moves better than you might think. - jhawk59[url]
Assuming the Hawks are in a rebuild when do you think it's time to spend for a front line UFA like Hall (not sure he'd be the guy I spend on at 29 yrs old next yr)? We see how the Ranger rebuild quickened when the coughed 11 mil for Panarin so I guess there is a time.
Curious when you think that might be prudent? .......... And I'd add can you do that before they answer the goalie position?

Losing Gusto makes the defense better no matter what else happens. DeHaan started last year injured. Seabs can t be worse than last year. Zadorov provides an element that the Hawks haven t had. Hopefully he takes Keith’s minutes on the PK. Murphy has gotten better I expect Bovquist to improve. Again, through my rose colored glasses. |

Janmark-Danault-Wallmark would be a pretty good checking line. Lots of speed and tenacity. - EbonyRaptor
I like this idea. We'll see how the Janmark and Wallmart signings are but they can be flipped at the TDL and they both seem to have defensive acumen and the ability to win faceoffs. This isn't the sandpaper that many want but rather hard playing defense-minded players that'll help us with having two netminders who are likely weaker than what we had last year.
Nylander and Strome don't fit those roles and with a top five of DCat, Kane, Toews, Kubalik and Dach, I can see one of them moved. |

Someone moves to wing?
Bowman is filling in with appropriate inexpensive young talent. They can be re-signed after the season if seen as a fit. Obviously both dmen and forwards marinate in the AHL. The AHL season may be shortened so i would not be surprised when injuries happen at the NHL level, there could be a cup of coffee for some of the Rockford kids who are marinating. Even a minor Injury when someone sits out one or two games, presents a nice opportunity for a prospect to get a hands on look how he has progressed and what he needs to work on.
I don't know how or when we add preresiquite toughness. At least one forward whom works the boards and checks. Really need this player to be top six. Which I know is expecting a lot for Bowman to accomplish this off season. Maybe at trade deadline or around Expansion and Entry Drafts something about this problem is addressed. Lots of true centers next draft. Wiz said. Some power forward type? - jhawk59
Dach could move to the wing, he could focus more on the offensive aspect of his game.
DeBrincat - Toews - Dach
Kubalik - Strome - Kane
Suter - Wallmark - Shaw
Janmark - Kampf - Carpenter
Nylander
Highmore
Smith (LTIR)

The issue isn’t going away so quickly:
https://theathletic.com/2...ith-spray-paint-graffiti/
For those without access to the Athletic, here is part of the story:
The debate over the Chicago Blackhawks’ logo isn’t going away. In fact, it might be escalating.
In the most aggressive recent action taken toward the organization due to its use of a Native American logo, a Blackhawks’ sculpture was vandalized in the early hours of Monday, which also happened to be Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
In a series of tweets Monday by an account named “no racist mascots” and with a Twitter handle of @zhigaagoong, photos and videos were shown of the Blackhawks’ 75th-anniversary statue after it had been defaced at night and while it was being cleaned in the daytime. It appears red paint was poured over the Indian head logo and words were written on and around the statue.
“Land back” was among the words written, which is a reference to a movement to restore Indigenous people’s land and culture. The messages also included “Get Wirtz off board,” which is a reference to a protest of Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz being on the Field Museum’s board of trustees.
“Decolonize Zhigaagoong” was also written, with “Zhigaagoong” being a word derived from the Anishinaabemowin language that refers to the territory now known as Chicago. Also written was, “(frank) your advisory committee, Lori,” which is believed to be a reference to an advisory committed created by Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot to assess memorials, monuments and other art in Chicago after the city removed statues of Christopher Columbus.

Benning let them off easy. I mean, yeah, practically nothing for a vg player but still, he had them over a barrel and only gave them one whack. |
