I guess not having actually won any cups makes teams not hate them as much as they hated the Hawks.
That said, Nate Schmidt for a 3rd is a pretty good trade for the Nucks don't you think? - vabeachbear
Very good acquisition for next to nothing. Wondering if Benning knew this was coming when he let Tanev and Stetcher walk? |

Assuming the Hawks are in a rebuild when do you think it's time to spend for a front line UFA like Hall (not sure he'd be the guy I spend on at 29 yrs old next yr)? We see how the Ranger rebuild quickened when the coughed 11 mil for Panarin so I guess there is a time.
Curious when you think that might be prudent? .......... And I'd add can you do that before they answer the goalie position? - Mr Ricochet
The prudent reach for a prime time player like Hall comes once you are convinced two of the prospect dmen are not only here to stay, but playing well
The sticky point here however is that one of those dmen should be Boqvist. And between concussions and getting strong enough, I imagine Boqvist starts to have a more significant impact t after next season. The offense as much as descent defensive coverage/not a rag doll is what makes Boqvist a major force on defense.
I believe Carlsson and Zadorov will be ok. Mitchell has the goods but maybe needs one year to transition. At least I hope so. Now you have to wonder if Murphy gets traded after next season. Keith is not leaving unless he gets really fed up. The team next year is not necesssrily going to be bad. Let us see how all the newcomers fit in. Moreover, can the goaltending be descent. Perhaps surprisingly yes, not bad at all.
Make the playoffs? Well they could challenge and fall short. Next season is really about kids developing and low and behold, two weak areas were addressed. Zadirov and face offs. Let us see what else transpires. Next off season may be premature to go after a pure bred player. The economy and covid will be hard against the team turning a profit. Although i am excited what we add with the 2021 draft choice plus all the prospects a year farther along. How good might Dach be by end of next season? |

They have to really know if Smith is done or not. It sounds like the Hawks were expecting him to be healthy enough to buyout but the timeline didn't work out so idk if he'll be a LTIR candidate.
I don't think Vegas would give up Krebs - he seems to be one of their untouchable prospects and he's more valuable than a 1st to them - but crazier things have happened. Maybe if someone took all of Flower's cap hit but idk about retaining. Vegas has already dumped two players without giving up much, so they probably can pull it off again.
Though with Lehner undergoing surgery, Idk if they move Flower. Might wait for in-season.
Edit: Yep, looks like they won't move Flower. They'll probably try to move one of the $2-3m players and replace them with ELC (of which Krebs could be one).

I've been coming around the chatrooms and observing all you for at least like 5 years. Is it possible that you think Subban could actually surprise us and do a decent job next year for us? I mean it looks more like the hawks are focusing on Defensive awareness players, although Saad was one, he was also very expensive.
Thoughts? - Hawk4life
So... you’re saying you’ve been stalking me for years?
I think it’s possible possible that one of Subban, Lankinen or Delia step up and become a #1. But it’s hard to say with any level of confidence which one it would be.
If healthy, I’m guessing Lankinen with Subban backing him up. Subban won the back-up role in the playoff bubble and the Hawks chose to re-sign him. Subban has some talent and the Hawks have some faith in him, just not sure how much. |

Meanwhile, ARI with an edict from their owner to dump 10 to 15M in salary hasn't made any moves yet.
And TB still has to sign Sergachev and Cirelli.
Still a lot of interesting moves to take place. |

I’m not surprised to see LV hang on to MAF, especially if next season is shortened or compacted (speculation on my part). The Knights are only about $1 million over the cap, it shouldn’t be too hard to rectify that. |

People are giving away assets to help Vegas and Colorado. D.Toews is more valuable than two 2nds but the Isle likely needed to move him to make room for Barzal's deal. - L_B_R its unreal. |

I think Subban will surprise us. He's a former first round pick as a goalie...he has to have skill. Let him take the reigns, and I think he'll cement himself as our Crawford replacement. |

Does Vegas realize Pietro is 30 years old? Damn that's crazy - BetweenTheDots
I don't this was a good move by Vegas . I didn't think defence was their problem . They needed atop scorer. Have they really improved that much by signing AP and giving Schmidt away? |

You need a true #1 d-man to win the Cup, I guess that’s what the Knights are going for. |

BS. Toews said he wouldn’t move his NTC if asked, my guess is that Keith and Keith would be the same.
I’m sure these 3 understand the current economic climate of the game but it doesn’t help when they lose two close friends and teammates.
Like its been pointed out before, Stan has not said the team is rebuilding, just that the young guys will get more opportunity. Most teams are looking to get more out of their ELCs.
I expect 2, 19 and 88 to be there on day one of next season (whenever that is) competing as hard as ever. |

I don’t put a ton of stock into the Toews/Kane are pissed and want out rumors. They’re professionals and champions—maybe they’re pushing for more support instead of rebuild but they’ve got a lot of reasons to stay in Chicago.
I know Jim Lites is CEO of the Stars and not the GM, but the dude’s call out’s of Seguin and Benn are bush-league. If those two can cut through the BS to a cup final, then I’ve got faith in 19 and 88. |

What I call BS is that Toews was "totally blindsided". I realize athletes are usually the last to know their time has passed, but he was on the ice against Vegas and if it wasn't clear to him the Hawks were more than a tweak or two away he's fooling himself. He doesn't want to face the old party is over and he's done his fair share of causing dissention by publicly disrespecting Stan's decisions. Maybe Toews should man up and get over it and shut up and play hockey.

Same and would like to see Lankinen given a long look. Delia is too streaky to be a full time goalie. |

I wonder if he’s truly part of the Hawks long-term plans. - DarthKane
I think that was the reasoning behind the trade. That and obviously Saad wasn't part of the future plans at his salary and having 1yr remaining. Idk about "long term" plans for zadorov but a piece of the puzzle. Not you but what I think our fans are missing here is that SB isn't done with this apparent "rebuild". More players will be moved out shortly for prospects and picks while some veterans can be moved at the deadline if we get player's NMC's agreed to be waived. The plan will be more apparent as we move along. |

The issue isn’t going away so quickly:
https://theathletic.com/2...ith-spray-paint-graffiti/
For those without access to the Athletic, here is part of the story:
The debate over the Chicago Blackhawks’ logo isn’t going away. In fact, it might be escalating.
In the most aggressive recent action taken toward the organization due to its use of a Native American logo, a Blackhawks’ sculpture was vandalized in the early hours of Monday, which also happened to be Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
In a series of tweets Monday by an account named “no racist mascots” and with a Twitter handle of @zhigaagoong, photos and videos were shown of the Blackhawks’ 75th-anniversary statue after it had been defaced at night and while it was being cleaned in the daytime. It appears red paint was poured over the Indian head logo and words were written on and around the statue.
“Land back” was among the words written, which is a reference to a movement to restore Indigenous people’s land and culture. The messages also included “Get Wirtz off board,” which is a reference to a protest of Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz being on the Field Museum’s board of trustees.
“Decolonize Zhigaagoong” was also written, with “Zhigaagoong” being a word derived from the Anishinaabemowin language that refers to the territory now known as Chicago. Also written was, “(frank) your advisory committee, Lori,” which is believed to be a reference to an advisory committed created by Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot to assess memorials, monuments and other art in Chicago after the city removed statues of Christopher Columbus. - StLBravesFan
These people are idiots.
