They weren't going to stay on ELCs forever - mr.peanut
Will the Leafs go forever without making it past the first round of the playoffs? |

I still see him on the top9.
I see Lekhonen on the 4th. - fidopro
Well they don't play the same side.
As RW, we have: Gallagher, Anderson, Toffoli, Armia
LW: Drouin, Tatar, Lehkonen, Byron

This gets the Habs from bubble playoff team to real playoffs team. Considering what Price did this summer, with more scoring once in the playoffs we can now hope for a better outcome but I wouldnt say we are legitimate contenders yet. That being said, it’d not always a top team that wins the big prize.
What this does as well though is show the impending free agents that Bergevin is now serious about winning. He’s addressed pretty much everything players mentioned as issues in their end of year zoom call and that should send a very loud and clear message |

A lot will depend on KK and suzuki. I think they will be better, but we'll see how much. And wich version of the team will show up. Cause it was pretty ugly before the bubble. - deadpoulet
I understand the reservations, but I mean they're night and day different to before the bubble. They've been upgraded dramatically, and on paper at least I think this is the most complete team they've had in 10 years. |

Why would you sign a UFA to have him play the wrong side?

Exactly, so my poopting on the Leafs should fit right in in a Habs blog. Not that I actually have a problem with them, the Bruins though (frank) them. |

You shouldn't worry about what the leafs do. Real question is will montreal ever make a legit playoff again? Can't see it happening, |

The leafs looked straight out of a circus, I agree.

agreed, but they're not there yet. kk and Sukuki would need to make a giant step forward for that to happen. will they right this season? maybe, but it's safer to think it will take 1 year or 2.

Well if you can't see it happening with the team they have now, I'd advise getting your eyes checked, because you must be blind. |

If we get anything like what we saw these playoffs I'm not worried. I think they'll be weaker overall in a year or two because they'll likely lose Tatar and have Weber and Price another year older. |

meh, yes Weber will get older, but kk and Suzuki will get better. not a bad tradeoff.
true they will probably lose Tatar though.

Who knows, maybe the flat cap will make it possible for the Habs to keep Tatar.
He's been our best scorer over the last 2 season, there's an argument for keeping him if the money/term is right.

It was only a matter of time ... the guy had zero chance of making an NHL team. Good guy I'm sure ... so I wish him good luck in Europe. |

absolutely. a lot will depend on if players want to stay or not.
like I said, they'll have 9M (maybe more if Byron is gone) to extend their UFAs. let say 3M to Gally and 2.5M to Danault, that leaves 3.5M to extend either Tatar, and or Armia, and or Lekhonen, and or kk.
obviously kk comes 1st. but after that, who do you keep, who do you let go? |
