Ok then. Not sure what the plan is here but he’s a solid nhl d-man. Fletcher may be opting for a season of patchwork defense until the expansion draft is over and the economic situation of the league is a little better.
Not sure who is going play against the other teams top lines though. |

Thanks for clarifying that he isn’t the same Gustafsson who played for us previously. I was shocked we’d brought him back. |

Below average defensively imo. How many games in before AV benches him? |

Hmmm... still a lot of ? surrounding this defense. He is a good role player but not Nisky’s role. Something is sure to drop soon. |

If he’s good on the pp and moves the puck out of the the d zone he’ll play. No one expects him to be a shutdown d man. Ghost wouldn’t have been a scratch if he was generating offense. |

So Fletcher signs a worse version of Ghost, who is actually what people mistakenly think Ghost is?
As was said before, if he's here to play on the 3rd pair with Braun, while Ghost is in the top 4, then... ok I guess.
If he's here as a replacement and Ghost gets traded, then it's absolutely horrific.

100% premature, but could he improve our PP? Or at least the 2nd unit? |

This is really a lateral move at best albeit it is cheaper. What it really says is that there is something else in the works. |

if ghost gets traded we just did a cap dump and hopefully made a move that made handling the expansion draft easier |

I also view this move as a sign that there's something else in the works. Maybe this type of move gives Fletch the level of comfort he needs to move on from Ghost. The return for Ghost will likely be next to nothing, unless he's being included as a piece in a larger trade. But I guess getting anything at all for Ghost now would beat getting nothing in the expansion draft (not that I personally think Seattle would take him). And if this does lead to Ghost being moved, then I like one year of Gus at $3M over three more years of Ghost at $4.5M. |

This is the most confusing Flyers'eque move - Fletch just lost some creditability imo relating to his own words on his approach to the free agency period. |

Apparently, in 18-19 (his best season), he played across from Keith in the first pairing, on pp1, not on PK, and Provorov is similar to Keith in the style they play.
1 year experiment?

that would be why he's signed for 1 year |

Because he is terrible defensively, apparently, well worse than Ghost from what I am reading. That's probably why he was traded.
Either Ghost is gone or Flyers really see some very big difference between the two. |
