So ghost will probably be waived? It seems he won’t be traded if the same guy was available for free and less money
Waive ghost

Trade sanheim for Laine
Move g to third line center
Cup - mydoglicks
We probably could waive Ghost honestly. I really can’t see anyone trading for him with the market like it is. |

He was -6 with his 17 goal, 60 point season - Bayareaflyer
If most of his points come on the PP it’s not going to add to his +/- |

His 60 point season was likely an outlier. Playing him in your top 4 is not what a cup contending team will do. No matter who they sign gives the young guys another tear of development so that’s a moot point. Expansion draft protection again is overrated; if you have 4 d you need to protect that is a good thing no? Didn’t seem like there was any demand for his services.
So at the end Of the day if he ends up on your 3rd pair is that good cap management? what happens if they don’t move ghost? No given at all they do. - login
The 17 goals and 60 points are almost definitely an outlier (hell, they're more than even Torey Krug's career highs and better than Shattenkirk's best years, too). But can Gustafsson get you 10 goals and 40ish points? Absolutely he can. |

3 million for a D-man who is a year removed from a 17 goal, 60 point season and will save the team $1.5M in cap if/when they can deal Ghost. Also buys York and Zamula a year of development, and he doesn't have to be Expansion Draft protected. Also equally comfortable at LD or RD.
Gustafsson has been a 2nd pairing, 20-min guy, but you need your 3rd pair to be able to split the bulk of the D-zone minutes with the top pair. If the Flyers can trade Gostisbehere, they'll actually have more cap space than they did before this move and also replace the offensive pop.
I don't think this, by itself, was more than a lateral move. But it's far from a terrible one. - bmeltzer
I'm still on the ledge but you've talked me back a step. Lol |

Well, saving 1.5 if they trade ghost and not retain salary. If they pull that off this is a win. Doesn’t solve all their D issues but would save more cap space. |

Well jury is out if he can. Excluding his 18/19 season he has 11 combined goals in 142 games.
Me I rather my dman play good defense. Don’t see how this really helps as I do not see the flyers taking Ivan off the PP. Rather have waited to go out and get legitimate top 4. Maybe they’ve still will |

Yup, factor in his 18 PP points in his career season and the overall net effect 12 more goals for than against with him on the ice that year. |

Agree. Just can’t see ghost being moved wit his full salary going the other way and nothing coming back |

Vegas 7.4 mill over the cap. Will be interesting to see how they clear that up.
EDIT: Actually 7 mill. Cap is 81.5 not 81 |

They desperately want a taker for Fleury, but good luck with that without retaining a big chunk. Trading Schmidt would get them much of the way there but not all. |

I will not be happy without another move to address more of a shutdown role.

Based on a rough estimate on state taxes (NV vs MO), Pietrangelo's $8.8M AAV with Vegas is the equivalent to approx $9.4M in St. Louis. $616,000 in tax savings.
So Pieterangelo essentially moving his family halfway across the country to live in a desert to play for an expansion team for an extra 600k. Interesting. |

Round it up to nine by 7. Would you ink him to that deal for flyers if you could? |

So if every team knows they are that far over the cap, and refuses to do trade business with them, what does Vegas do? |

Apparently, in 18-19 (his best season), he played across from Keith in the first pairing, on pp1, not on PK, and Provorov is similar to Keith in the style they play.
1 year experiment? - PT21
Don't know about style but Keith is a player who received heavy O zone starts. Provorov is a player that takes heavy D zone starts for the Flyers. Don't see them being paired as a fit.

They’ll basically have to give a good player away. I think they’re stuck with MAF no matter what. |

If they are stuck with MAF why would they give Lehner that contract? |
