What would have moved the needle more? Flyers signing Hall for a year, or signing Gus and what other ancillary move is to come? |

If they are stuck with MAF why would they give Lehner that contract? - PLindbergh31
They didn’t do their due diligence lol. |

Because, IMO, McCrimmon misread how difficult it would be to trade Fleury with his Cup rings, etc. |

Based on a rough estimate on state taxes (NV vs MO), Pietrangelo's $8.8M AAV with Vegas is the equivalent to approx $9.4M in St. Louis. $616,000 in tax savings.
So Pieterangelo essentially moving his family halfway across the country to live in a desert to play for an expansion team for an extra 600k. Interesting. - PLindbergh31
I think it's even less than that. If I understand correctly, athletes/entertainers pay taxes based on the city they play/perform in, not where they're based. Only 1/2 the games are at home, so the athlete/performer still pays the same amount of taxes for road games (LV & StL excepted).
I agree. Seems like a minimal difference, until you consider the difference of living in LV vs. a poophole like StL. I'd take Oct-June in LV vs St.L any day. |

A 12M goalie tandem would seem to be poor cap management, and hinder putting together a competitive roster. |

Apples to oranges, and depends who else (if anyone) is brought it or dealt and how cap is managed. Apples to apples, clearly Hall is the no-brainer better one-year add if they're standalone moves with all cap considerations next season removed. |

Ottawa could take him and buy him out and get a pretty nice haul from Vegas for the favor I would think. |

Wow! If they get stuck eating all that cap space in goal is crazy. I will say the goalie market this year was saturated. |

616Kx8 -- That is not a bad deal. Pitlick is moving cross-country, to the desert, for 750K for one season. 5M is nothing to sneeze at. |

Thought so, I don’t know a lot about Gus but I think I would want Myers with him and on the second unit |

This is really a lateral move at best albeit it is cheaper. What it really says is that there is something else in the works. - MJL
Or it could mean that they have a LOT of confidence in Sanheim and Myers. |

Bill.....do you think because of the way Vegas handled the last expansion draft( basically extorting teams for picks and players) burned some bridges and caused some bad blood in the league. Payback is a beach. Or do you think that is business and the GM has his relationships and network of peeps he can reach out to. |

I have a ton of confidence that both of those players are going to develop into top flight NHL defenseman but I think it's a mistake to think that either are ready for top pairing duty this upcoming season.

Sanheim's got 200 NHL games under his belt. Time to let him spread his wings.
Myers, I'd be more careful with. But I feel like he'll be ready for top-pair duty sooner than later.

He is not, unless you want the Flyers GAA to soar when he's on the ice. He's an O-zone start guy. Niskanen (and Provorov) were comfortable with more than half their starts in D-zone, and it tougher matchups. - bmeltzer
I suspect that Sanheim will be moving up to pair with Provy. Gus will be with Haag. Myers will be with ?????? |
