Hmmm...stupid? Or just awkwardly constructed? Which equals stupid? Or angry stupid? The first plus all of the above? You decide. - HawkintheD

Not sure I had that one in there but yeah that about covers it. If only he wasn't an angry banana eater, he'd still be an angry piece of poop. |

Also, I have been thinking over the Zadorov trade the last day or so. I guess I would prefer to watch Zadorov play defense (or what maybe a few say lack there of) than watch Gustafsson play basically no defense, and give up 1-2 break aways on the PP. Hopefully it will also help that he is unafraid to drop the gloves, so I don’t see Shaw get concussed in a fight or watch ADB try and stand up for Kane and drop the gloves to “fight”, all 5’6” of him.
I like Murphy, but I really have wished he had more of a mean streak or was tougher to play against. If the Hawks were close to being Cup Relevant, I would have looked into Brendan Dillon, who always gave Kane headaches. - DrewDawg
One thing I have thought about not mentioned: in trading our top assets, let's assume we're not getting a top pick and strong prospect they're not worth that it's either or, would you rather get a lower first round pick or a player you know is an NHL player? That may have been the choice Stan made with Saad?
And that NHL player you're not waiting 2-3 years to even begin in the NHL.

The bottom line is Stan Bowman doesn't have the balls to discuss his plans with the core and get their input, or at least try to get their buy-in. Just like he didn't have the balls to let Q know he was trading Hammer and Panarin. The next year, he brings in Manning, Kunitz and some other junk to insure that Q fails so he can fire him. He didn't have the guts to mention that he got an extension. He didn't have the guts to give Crow a heads up on his offer being non-negotiable. Stanbo is a total failure, and Danny Wirtz, by tying himself to Stan, is well on his way to being as popular as Grandpa Dollar Bill was when he ruined the Hawks for decades and alienated 99% of their fanbase. - BMWChiFan
I am not a fan of the inmates running the asylum. Actually, Manning and Kunitz were Q type players, Trevor Daley and Michael Kempney were not. I believe Stan tried to placate the core by not blowing it up sooner.
I believe it was reported that the offer to Crow was take it or leave it. Crow thought he held the cards, but forgot Stan held the Trump card (no political point inferred or intended)
Sorry if Stan didn ‘t Inform you of his extension. Considering the rest of management was reshuffled with different responsibilities, I guess you couldn’t figure out Stan was staying.

I’m going with the theory that Danny Wirtz told Stan to cut costs while still icing a “serviceable“ team. It’s the only thing that consistently explains the moves we’ve seen so far? |

I would guess maybe more than one previously core pieces is traded this year, and maybe another next year. Very difficult to know what Epstein will do
However
Core Blackhawk players remaining are doubtfully traded
If they are truly very unhappy? I think this is misrepresented how badly upset. Both player and writer could have made this sound worse than it is. The players are comfortable in Chicago. They ought to know after three Cups and year aftet year of late first round choices, inevitably the team would not be able to rise back up. They played still on winning teams, though, so if their is b*thing now it is merely blowing off steam. I suspect that the team is going to be competitive most nights anyway. Although I doubt playoffs. |

This COULD be true, but it simply is conjecture. The truth is that we don't now what Stan did or did not communicate. I might be wrong, but I'm almost positive the Kunitz was brought in specifically for Q.
All of the "Stan doesn't have the guts" stuff is just venting really. I don't discount it, and you are 100% free to do so, but it is not based on any hard facts. - Chunk
Sorry, but I'll take Toews' word over Bowman's. |

And I'm not a fan of the Incompetent Bowman running the asylum. And if you think Bowman holds a stronger hand than the Core Four with their NMCs, you're sadly mistaken. Stanbo just better hope that they don't openly revolt against him and his hand-picked, learning on the job coach. |

I am not 100% sure you or Chuck has the correct view on the player and management dynamics. I will go with Chuck, but some posters probably have a good feel which of you guys is correct. I bet wiz knows. I bet Rick has a good read too. But i do strongly feel that if you are correct then I would be very surprised if Rocky would want his GM to be a weak knee administrator for much longer.
And btw just curious how does Mathews input affect Dubas GM player/coach moves. Sometimes a player does have a strong voice. The GM has to be able to muffle that. Not let it have any impact on him |
