: I think the Canucks have a plan but I don’t think they articulated it very well. I think sometimes they’re so concerned about leaks that it can clamp down on the process. I think Schmidt deal was done on Saturday night.

I’ve always believed Friedman. People get mad at him when he self-admittedly speculates on his podcast and incorrectly assume he’s talking about a sourced rumour.

coming at you? this is just more of you playing the victim.

you've made an accusation about me i.e. i've flip flopped on my opinion and i've asked you to back it up.

somehow, you've turned that into "keep coming at me bro."

this sh!t is weird booner. why do you always try to portray yourself as a victim?

just like every reporter, you take things with a grain of salt. nothing is 100% correct and you have to sift through the granules of truth (among several sources) and make up your own opinion.

it's weak sauce (and i'm not pointing at you but moreso your dad) to sh!t on certain rumours but take as gospel others, often times by the same reporter.

I could understand that, market is mad in Van. JB did zero to appease folks when everyone jumping off a cliff and really he shouldn't have to babysit people. He said he wanted to upgrade the D and well, he done did that. Said he wanted a top 6 fwd, see if he can somehow acquire one.

Can't know the plan half way through when it hasn't unfolded yet!

Benning deserves a lot of praise for closing this deal, regardless how he got there. At the end of the day he was one of a number of GM's who got a legit top 4 d for pennies.

I'm sure at least 10 other teams would of jumped on the deal.

You guys try to make this all to complicated, the GM gets all the credit and the blame. Bad trades, bad UFA signings and bad drafts are on him and good trades, good signings and good drafts are attributed to him.

If you want to tally it all up and decide it's taken him too long, or hasn't actually accomplished anything worthwhile or that he's the greatest GM in existence, great.

Debating whether he thought the Schmidt deal would be available or whether he thought Miller would turn out to be elite is asinine. He puts his job on the line with these moves so whether they are calculated months in advance or he goes all in with his gut, it doesn't matter. It either works or it doesn't.

- belcherbd

Apparently the other GM’s all wanted to haggle over a contract going the other way but Benning gave the pick and said thanks!
It looks like the rest of the league gave McCrimmon the Mike Gillis treatment.

if you haven't noticed: my ego is freaking huge. it cannot be dinged!

anyway, i think we're at an impasse. you have no basis to back up your opinion and i've spent pages making you confirm that.

Schmidt:

“Last night was hard, you put down some roots in a place and you’re there from the beginning, which is always something special. Not many guys can say they’ve been in a place from the ground up,” Schmidt said of getting unexpectedly dealt from the Vegas Golden Knights last night. “One thing I will say is, we played the Canucks about a month ago, and there was about them in the bubble, a buzz about their young players and the talent that they have, especially up front and then on the backend with Quinn Hughes.”

“That’s the kind of team that you want to be a part of, a group of guys that will fight for each other tooth and nail all the way down to the end. With each passing hour, you get more and more excited about the prospect and the idea of being a Vancouver Canuck.”

Nate Schmidt brings up this goal by Pettersson that “spun him around” 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/hl1NroOOWR “I’m pretty sure I can remember Pettersson spinning me into a top last year to Brock backdoor, so fortunately for me, I don’t have to see that stuff anymore,” Schmidt said of the goal.

“You get to play with Shea, you see everything Quinn Hughes gets to do,” Schmidt said. “His transitions, his hips swivel, I don’t have that in my game. I don’t think anyone has that in their game the way Hughes does. So that’s something I’m looking forward to. Shea’s someone that’s really blossomed into a fantastic player and I think the sky’s the limit for both of them. I see these guys as being the next wave, arriving as the next wave of guys that are going to be in that elite category for a long time.”

“This has been my favourite place to come to and visit every year. They have this awesome Christmas market that I buy my mom ornaments from every year, which is right downtown. So I always find that to be awesome. We always usually come around Christmas time. So like I said, everyone I talk with, Shea Theodore, he’s from Vancouver. And he’s got a place downtown. So he’s like ‘you’re gonna love it, it’s an awesome city, and I agree. I can’t overstate the idea of playing in a competitive market, getting the best of the best, it’s ‘Welcome to the Big Show.’ You know, it’s something that as a hockey player, you dream of, being on the big stage and this is it.”

I have lots of basis. What's more important to me is to watch you become unraveled by someone taking a page from your own posting style is all. Nothing personal though.

unravel? that's a bit much isn't it?

we've seen some epic unravelling on this thread. scary unravelling. funny unravelling. but truly monumental unravelling. unravelling to the point that a mosquito would be bloated from sucking all that blood. so we both know what unravelling is and this ain't it.

Was wondering when you'd try and steer this away from hockey. I had my money on 2 pages ago.

It was always about what's been said or hasnt been said about hockey for me. One of the easiest ways to frustrate you... not letting you redirect it to personal poop slinging.

Let it go. You've done enough damage to yourself.

Okay, I will let it go. I've asked you several times to back up what you say but you can't.

If you could, you already would have so actions speak louder than anything we've posted.

I'm good with that.
