i can see them agreeing to a multi-year deal with jake and making a trade or two to offset the cap hit. i get the feeling (based on nothing but conjecture) that they'd rather add a sweetener to get a deal done than buy someone out. - RealityChecker
Canucks don’t have a pattern of buyouts (Spooner Higgins are the only ones since 2016, I think). Sutter seems like an unlikely buyout target (even though he is one of the few candidates)...I agree with your trade with possibly a sweetener added to offset a cash or cap difference. |

Oh come on ref I'm not a huge GnR guy but man Appetite for Destruction is one great rock album. Front to back. Mike Clink produced that album which was huge. They considered Paul Stanley from KISS to produce that record (bleh) but he wanted to change up the drumming too much so they told him to pound sand. Also considered Mutt Lange lol. Thankfully that didn't happen. Rocket Queen is perhaps the best track on the album and it wasn't a radio-friendly hit. Great album all through IMO. |

I wouldn’t classify that as good or even pleasing to listen to.
Glad you like it, but it still sucks goat balls, one step above Rap.. |

Depends on the definition of RnR, in the 80’s I was listening to U2, The Police, Dire Straits, Billy Joel, Rush, Phil Collins, Genesis, Journey, Van Morrison, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, REO Speedwagon, Queen, Tom Petty, Stevie Ray Vaughn and so on.
You like the head banging noise, it’s all good. |

"I'm not saying this isn't a step back for the #Canucks, it's a massive step back. Jacob Markstrom led the NHL over the past two seasons in the amounts of goals he prevented. Are both Demko and Holtby capable of filling some of that gap. Absolutely, but...."

Kevin Woodley breaking down the Canucks defensive structure and how both Demko & Holtby play vs how Markstrom plays, it’s a good listen. He says basically the chances that the Canucks allow are one of Holtby’s major weaknesses so they’ll need to be much better defensively. |

Why I think it's unrealistic to think OJ or? will miraculously fill the voids on defence. Schmidt's a nice addition but not enough.

You get another one if you have an RFA who's case gets settled in arbitration
Catch is the player being bought out has to make more than 4 Million and has to have been part of your roster at the previous years trade deadline

It's almost impossible to move money right now, and if you're a team willing to take on a 4 million dollar problem, you will get a better offer than a 3rd to do so (Marleau and his 6 million got a 1st last year and not in a flat cap)
JB could move Sutter with retention for sure, but Roussel is probably the smarter play
1) Sutter traded with 50% = 2.15 Cap for 1 year
2) Sutter bought out = 2 Million for this year, 1 Million next year
3) Roussel traded with 50% 1.5 Million for 2 years
No real gain with a buyout. Option 3 gets you 3 Million ahead next year and keeps Sutter this year (probably a better piece than Roussel)

Good defence is The result of good team structure - Green needs to put a solid system in place and the forwards/dmen need to perform as a cohesive unit.
A season and a half ago, would anyone have said Marky was indispensable or worth 6x6? No. Players and coaches still need to perform but things can change quickly (especially is Ian Clark can reach one or both of the goalies). |

Marky was a very average goalie (below average at times) for many years until he landed in Vancouver. IMO, the Canucks turned him into a starter and the player he is today.
I have no doubt that they’ll do the same with Demko. To suggest that Marky is a rare talent is laughable. He’s a product of a good development system. |

I believe Ian Clark is largely responsible for much of Markstrom's significant improvements over the past couple of seasons. He always had the tools but Clark was able to help him figure out how to use them properly. Without that influence on an ongoing basis, it's likely that Calgary sees diminishing returns on their large investment.
That's why I ask, again, does anyone know for sure if Clark is still under contract and for how long? |

There will never be another decade like the 80's for metal. Never really know what we had at the time was so special. But that's what makes it unique. It needed to die off in the late 80's to be 'reborn' again of a sorts. Everything runs it's course. |
