Looking at the FA left....

Could we trade JV, Sutter, Gaudette, Rousell....somehow?

And just sign:

Haula - 2 years (3rd line C upgrade)
The good granlund - 2 years (Bo wing)

JV - yes teams would be interested

Sutter - maybe if they retain like 30-50% and attach and decent pick or prospect.

Gaudette - yes teams would be interested

Roussel - not unless they give up a pretty good pick or prospect

I think they're still looking to sign a dman who can PK. Tanev and Stecher were 2 of the best PK dmen on the team and Schmidt isn't really known for PK ability, he can play on the PK but he wasn't one of the top options for Vegas, I believe he was 4th in PK mins amongst their dmen. Green loves his PK'ers so you know he's in Benning's ear right now.

Marchand with hernia surgery, that poop will (frank) up an athlete's explosiveness, especially if they get it at an older age.

You love to see it

LA clearly won that trade, and here we are looking to fill that void. It's not Hog this year.
- VanHockeyGuy

We never had a full season to analyze Toffoli here so it's tough to say what 'void' we would have to fill but yes you are correct that was a miss by JB. I get the whole Pearson/Toffoli thing and yes Green really didn't buy into pairing them together, but it would been nice to see a full season with Toffoli here.

I do think we have options though. Hog may not be ready but JB can get creative in the top 6. Maybe it's JV's time to shine with TT gone he has been improving steadily.

On paper our team looks better than last year IMO.

EDIT: Based on Start of Season, not after the TT trade.

Either Jack would take more then JV, a second and dumping Sutter.

I think JV and Rous are the easiest to move. Rous has a hard nosed reputation that teams always want.

I don't think the team will move on from Gaud – they have no one in the system to replace him. They can sign UFAs, but that gets us back into the Sutter/Beagle cycle.

Roussel's extra year at his age/cap hit in this current market absolutely kills his value. You're 100% going to have to take on a cap dump back or attach a pick/prospect to move him

Not Jake lol, I know he's a whipping boy, but plenty of teams put in a claim if he was waived right now.

If he was drafted by another team and has the same career path, people in this blog would be floating trade proposals to trade for him.

Oh they have tried.

Edit. The fact they brought in Holtby who he wanted and tried to draft the goalie he wanted in the 3rd round probably helps

Who was the goalie he wanted?

Personally I like Jake. He as been the whipping boy but he has consistently gotten better every year. Growing pains for sure. He will have a 30 goal season given the minutes.

Not sure how his skillset isn’t being utilized on the PK... That speed is a half dozen SHG waiting to happen & all he‘d have to do in our system is stand in a box & win races to loose pucks with soft perimeter players... & I guess be willing to block some shots

Do you think Jake has the IQ to PK? It’s primarily hustle and positioning. He only hustles if he has a clear lane to rush the puck through the neautral zone and he is a dummy

My thing was that they should’ve tried it back when this team was sucking, there was no downside to giving him a chance when the playoffs were out of reach anyway.
