Hearing UFA Matt Martin and the #Isles are working towards a new deal. Believe as many as seven teams inquired about Martin when free agency began last week but sounds like he wants to stay on the Island. - Vukota
More $ on a 4th liner with Barzal not signed?

Hearing Mike Hoffman is considering a one-year deal for his next NHL home. If he does that, there’s a good chance that he and Taylor Hall head to market next summer as the leaders in goals per game for all free agents 31 and under. Déjà vu all over again.
I doubt the isles could clear enough space for a one year deal but it would be great if they could |

Might be the same in next years FA market as the Cap is said to be flat in the 21-22 season as well. Only difference is if the Virus is defeated, (God Willing) The teams individual revenues and the leagues as well should improve and maybe the cap will go up big instead of being flat. Very interesting times for sure.

#Habs GM Marc Bergevin fighting back tears twice during his video conference while calling Brendan Gallagher "someone special" was nice to see. It wasn't an act and was real emotion. Something you don't see a lot from GMs in any sport and was unexpected coming from Bergevin.

I wonder what they are thinking? I mean haven't they seen the success Toronto has had giving 4 guys most of the cap? What a bunch of idiots.

I’ve a lot of respect for Gallagher. Little (frank)er doesn’t back down from anyone or anything. - Wildschwein
I love Gallagher as a player. But the GM crying about re-signing him is (frank)ing weird. |

He's having a pretty good offseason. That Toffoli contract is arguably the best one that's been signed during this UFA period. |

I really like the Tiffoli contract and he would have been great with Pageau and could have filled in on the 1st when Eberle had his normal slump. Just think overall Bergevin has not done a good job. |

No matter how you slice it Montreal is a better team on paper then last season. That’s all you can ask from a GM till games are played. |

Good player, not such a great contract. The Allen re-signing was kind of odd too. |

The Anderson contract may work out for them in the end just seems like a Komarovish overpayment. Unnecessary imo. |

I don’t disagree he’ll never get anything from Lameriello but I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Gorton or a Rangers source told him they had no interest in Martin. - Cptmjl
