It's not only about the ask's, term is a factor as well. You're not going to get Hoffman for less than 5M on a short term deal, something needs to give if we did. - VanHockeyGuy
yeah, i don't disagree.
i just meant generally speaking, it might be better for jb to wait things out. i think he holds tight until (at least) jake's deal or arbitration gets done. |

Pearson's value is at a peak right now, 3750.000 is reasonable for a team to take on. Then you're creating another void in the lineup though. - VanHockeyGuy
What a weird way to write that |

Thank goodness the Canucks have a not only a draft guru as a GM but also, a capologist. Patient Jim is going to wait for the bottom to fall on the UFA market and then pounce.
The Plan. |

People talking about Hoffman, I think i'd prefer granlund with Bo tbh. Can probably get him cheaper on a 1 year as well. Guy really has something to prove in the league after such a bad season. |

Best part of this is that Markus Granlund was WAY better than Hunter Shinkaruk. |

Maybe Lordy could answer this as he is a rink guy, but I believe the rink operator/Zamboni driver, has an obligation to public safety, the propanetanks could explode.
Also, most rinks use ammonia for freezing ice and there are some legal obligations that go along with that - Reubenkincade
It's a combination of a few things when stuff like that occurs but yes public safety is priority #1. Most rinks have natural gas tanks now Propane is pretty much a thing of the past. We will be transitioning to an electric Ice machine probably in less than 10 years...just the electrics have many kinks to work out and just arent cost-effective maintanence wise right now...but they are coming.
And yes 99% of rinks are ammonia based ice plants. Very dangerous substance and MANY legal obligations that go with operating Ammonia ice plants. With what happened in Fernie a few years (3 guys died trying to isolate a Brine/Ammonis leak) back we have changed many safety protocols. It's basically an ongoing thing with safety but it's a good thing.
I just can't believe he drove off with that thing on fire. Most operators would just jump off as the threat of injury is so high. Insane. |

Rick, it's time to stop talking about yourself in the third person.
