I do.

That’s 4 solid Dmen.
3 rookies and Benn.
When injuries occur to the top 4 (as they always do) that is a desperate situation.

I think we need at least one more established D.

I know it isn't ideal, but I feel that we have a better top 4 (and top 6) than most other teams right now after adding Schmidt.

Looch has 1 extra year and isn't a better option than LE. What is CGY adding for us to take that crap on?

Ya i think it's pretty vital that they have rock solid depth at D before the season starts. In season you won't really be able to trade for D depth with any US teams... if you do that player will likely have to self isolate for 14 days.... which means that your only trading partners in season for players that you can get and play right away will be all the Canadian teams.... which will all be in the same division as you.... just a horrible position to be in. Canucks would be wise to get one more solid D-man.

The team that makes the trade wants the pick, not the player. The pick is a draft pick. The entry draft is how new players are selected to enter the league, and are thus valuable. I know this is difficult, but i hope you find this helpful.

From Coyotes beat reporter Craig Morgan

I have heard from multiple sources that the sides had agreed on a draft pick and a contract coming back to Arizona, but they never could agree on the prospect. I think the Coyotes wanted either Thatcher Demko, Vasili Podkolzin or Nils Höglander and the Canucks kept saying no. I have also heard that the Vancouver offer was a first-round pick, a second-round pick, Jake Virtanen and Brandon Sutter.

A 2nd to dump Sutter so basically a 1st + Virtanen for OEL

Thankfully Arizona said no and we got Schmidt for a 3rd instead

Sliding doors and timing really puts things in perspective how fluid the changing landscape can be but the principle of sticking to his guns got JB to the Nate deal.

Now if only another such deal can come along before next season. Just need confirmation an AHL season will take place and JB can put the screws to LE to make room.
