No, it's them saying, you, good NHL player, isn't worth making sure we keep by freaking qualifying you and guaranteeing you stay here at least another year, to help us win hockey games, we rarely win - sbroads24
Yeah then he goes to arbitration and gets an insanely high number the Sabres don’t want to sign him for
Plenty of other nhl teams did the same thing.
Not rolling the dice on arbitration was 100% a real thing this offseason. |

Because management is bad. Period. Properly managed organizations don't let productive players go unqualified.
The two teams who did- Ottawa, Buffalo - sbroads24
Two players looking for paydays way higher than their worth. I can see the incompetence angle, but there's more to it than 'mismanagement'.

So we let Kahun walk to overlay Girgensons when there were several bottom 6 forwards that could fill his role for cheaper ?
We also decided that Eakin was a better investment then Wennberg or Janmark who are much better suited for the defensive matchups that line will be facing ?
At this rate they could get Kahun on the cheap but we decided to give $3M worth of cap to Lazar, Reider, Irwin, and Davidson ?
Let’s face it, he had Rossi there and took Quinn
He completely mismanaged the bottom 6.
However the Hall signing and the Mojo got Staal deals were clear wins. - Pegullaville
I like that the 2020 krueger/ Adam's combo has an actual vision. Whether we agree or disagree with their plan.
Tmgm and botts kinda just added pieces.
Botts signing vesey, frolik, Simmonds and all the expensive underperforming players was terrible.
These guys are BUILDING A TEAM.
Again, free to disagree with the moves, but they have a vision beyond just signing guys, because...
I like the truckulance approach
- shout out crags 😉

In a 3 year flat cap, and you want to use his money to get bonafide good players, these are the kind of decisions you probably have to make. If Kyle Okposo wasn't here, I think you QO him. But this is our reality.

Right, like Zemgus Girgensons and Cody Eakin.
Hell, they paid Hall 8 and teams were apparently offering 5-6 mil.
So it's cool to overpay 4th liners and Hall, but If Kahun wants 500k more...woo boy

I think we all understand that Dahlin will be great ...... I wonder what the value is going to be?
Like for Eichel when we extended him for 8 years, his points + talent you could clearly see was worth 10 million.
Dahlin on the other hand, you see the talent and he plays defense. So hes not lighting it up as much as eichel.
Dahlin has 84 points in 141 career games AS A TEENAGER.
My guess is something like 8 years 6 to 7 million. I truly dont think its any higher. - Sabretooth9
He should fire his agent if he makes that deal.

Once again, it's not 4th liners vs Kahun. It's Kahun vs our top 9. And he's #9 or 10. Girgensons was overpaid. That was a bad play. Eakin's contract is fine.

If ka-boo-hoo-hun signs for very little money elsewhere, or a reduced price with the Sabres, do they get any credit.
If ka-boo-hoo-hun signed right away for 3.5 million, I'd admit we let a good guy slip away.
The fact that the Sabres didn't overpay him, should be a positve right? Good asset management?
Is there anyway the Sabres look good here in regards to ka-boo-hoo-hun? How does passing on arbitration look better? Or it just dosen't, no matter what?
What makes the Sabres look smart here? |

I can't really answer why they didn't qualify him and try to trade him if he wouldn't come off his number. But if they were ever forced into the arb meeting, and he made too much, and we are now forced to trade a top 9 forward, it would have been a pretty bad look.
He's a good player. I want him back. At an appropriate price.
Also, I'm comfortable with this top 9: Hall, Eichel, Reinhart, Cozens, Staal, Skinner, Thompson, Olofsson, Eakin
Over this top 9: Skinner, Eichel, Reinhart, Kahun, Vesey, Sobotka, Johansson, Sheary, Erod
And if the first set vastly outplays the second set, I couldn't give less of a (frank) about the existence of Kahun. - TheSabresTaco
I don't disagree with the vast majority of your post.
The one area I question is being OK with Tage...they are banking on him showing alot more than his initial 100 games has shown.
Sborads is correct in that the $700-$88k overpaid to Girgs Nd $700k on Reider would have been used to offset the cost of Kahun...then let Thompson actually compete for and take away that top 9 winger spot

kahun wouldn't make our top 9
if the kids get a shot
tage got paid over a mil, he is sticking
cozens is probably sticking as it's win now
casey, well that is up to him
and you still have 7 more guys ahead of kahun
it's not like sobotka is penciled in our top 9, as it was last year |

For the last time , let me clear this up in regards to sam:
Although i went to quite a few games in 2014 ( lose for sam ) year. I became a season ticket holder in 2015 the mceichel tank season.
- sam was very unimpressive in his 9 game 1 secondary assist introduction to me as a "paying" fan
- the following year, there was alot of hoopla about sam and his "muffin shot," and extra ror practices. Tmgm mentioned he needed to work on his shot and he was putting in extra time. That extra practice apparently lasted a short period of time.
- I hear drunken stories of being a d'ck with eichel off the ice. Being almost arrested, but swept under the rug for being an a$$ at fright world. Sam being super hammered to the point where the cops almost arrested him.
-a few more drunken stories I cant %100 substantiate
- guy cant plug into 2c the position they drafted him for.
- guy is really slow, lacks energy and any pizzazz playing on a losing team.
-guy cant take a picture with a friends teenage daughter ( at the arena) because he has a girlfriend?
- guy continues to be a decent point player, but not the cerebral ice vision guy as touted.
- guy scores hadn't scored 25 plus goals with a top 3 passer in the game.
- guy cant separate himself or really establish anything both years eichel had his devastating injuries. The other #2 guy.
- guy doesnt play pk or defend particularly well
-guy flat out gives up during a play that resulted in a goal
These are my opinions
Slow ,unexciting, non winner that has been given every benefit of a doubt by the Sabres organization.
Also , sat out last contract and may be a difficult player to negotiate with, being that he is attached to eichel and his stats are admittedly fluffed.
The same sammers just love him. He has really proven nothing beyond being a complimentary player on a crappy team.
Please do not pay him as a "core" player.
Ralph gets it. No long extension or big $.
Now sammer swallowers want to give him 7 + million after signing the league mvp from 2018 for 8 million.
Hope this helps ion, as we are all entitled to our own opinions. Now I'll sit back and wait for WEt2 to pick 1 line out if my post and barrage me. 🤔 - Boss34

You have the worst condescending tone on here. It’s really annoying. You’d be easier to stomach and to disagree with if you lost the B/S crap in your posts.

Good practice player that almost ended Eichels season before it began? Lol.
Overpaying fourth line players can keep you from keeping the Halls of the world.
Between Okposo and Girgensons it’s not ideal. I know they inherited Okposo’s contract but that’s even more reason to pay attention to not overpaying role players. And before I get jumped on that also included Kahun. I would however prefer to overpay a guy like Kahun 500k than a guy like Girgensons. |

Sure. But if that LOG line gets more ice time regularly as a unit than the other two lines (we all know Eichel’s is the first line) then we are not a playoff team. |

Taco- I can appreciate your opinion on girgensons and being overpaid. It's an opinion. I disagree, which is also an opinion.
Girgs was our 5th leading goal scorer, under this very coaching staff. They know better than you or I. I trust their judgment.
My question is :
Can that opinion change ever? Probably not right?
Girgs regresses and score 5 goals, I change my avatar and he clearly undeproduced vs. The contract.
Girgs scores 15 goals any of the 3 seasons.
-you guys - they still overpaid....
What changes this concept? Seriously? What needs to happen for the contact to be fair value or a steal? |

I feel I started all the Kahun talk all over again. But what I said was that Kahun hasn't been signed, and perhaps that drove his price down to sign a team friendlier deal at this point. Which we should really consider doing. He's a good top 9 and that's something that we should still be adding too regardless of Hall or not. |
