Maybe Reinhart can change his name with his new contract, that way we can have a shinny new 50+ point producer with no history.

The reason some people don't like him is that he's completely unspectacular. Conversely he's incredibly solid. Every team in the league would take Sam Reinhart on their team - jcragcrumple
Don't speak for me, speak for yourself. Besides not getting space, he's not tough on the puck, the player, not high energy. There are more flaws to his game than just being unspectacular. Hall is going to make Reinhart Mr more Insignificant on this team. No longer top line player, no longer starting OT, we'll see if he is 1st line PP., fewer minutes. But this is all good because the team will be upgraded, hopefully in these areas if that happens so better for the team. Who cares about the decrease Sam will take, it's all about the team.

Heard 2 years mentioned multiple times. KA picks the length here. Why would he ever elect 2 years and send him straight into UFA? - Lunaion
Well, I only had 1 and 2 Yr options.
I picked the 2 year as the example
Not a suggestion of what I think they nor he SHOULD do |

Why are we assuming this? One is a LW one is a RW |

So Hall (only played LW his entire career) is going to move to the RW just to bump down Reinhart and keep VO (who is everything that you just said but more, like way more and doesn't score OR get assists 5v5 WITH Eichel and Sam). Color me skeptical. |

What does that mean to you? He needs to shake the boards more?
The stats say he's solid defensively. |

did he have a trouble with his size in the AHL? isn't he short?
edit: never mind he didn't play in rochester.. - SabresFaninIndiana
He was rejected at the gate when he could walk under the 52" bar on his tippie-toes.

Ice hockey from 7-15 at the Nike base, then with South Buffalo. College intramural floor and rec floor in my 20s |

Then being tough on the puck isn't bashing guys, or hurting guys, it's having a high motor to stay with your guy who has the puck, to have the desire to make playing against you hard, you use your stick and your body. He doesn't do that, he is a passive winger on the boards and the corners, he doesn't get his own space in ice. He doesn't have the speed to go down the wing. So, it is much more than just being unspectacular.

We'll see how the lines are made up with VO on the 1st line with Hall and Eichel. VO has played both wings.
What I posted and Sam being less significant really struck a nerve with the lovers but look at the big picture, it's all about the team.

He's an average skater which is why I think he's perceived as having a low motor. He makes his living in the dirty areas cleaning up and tipping pucks. One of his best attributes is how he uses his stick and body position around the net to create screens and drive home rebounds.
He doesn't have elite speed, doesn't have an elite shot, doesnt have elite playmaking (although it's above average). Doesnt have elite size or physicality.
Everything he does is good, solid and unspectacular |

Ruostolainen has 4 goals in 6 games now in Liiga
He’s an under rated prospect - sbroads24
I like him better than Tage
But part of that probably has to to with my predisposition towards SSTT |

I'm not a Sam lover I'm a Sabres fan. And if you think VO is a good 5v5 player, I can't tell you what you're watching. What I saw from him was an elite shot from the right wall on the PP. Other then that, he was getting outscored by 3rd liners 5v5, and was a defensive liability. Could he correct it? Sure. But sorry to tell you this, even with Hall, Sam is still our second best winger today. |

As I said he was and is not a top line winger. Thankfully they were able to get Hall and hopefully they can sign him for longer, then deal Sam for something of value.

I said they had to do better than Skinner and Reinhart as their top two wingers and oh boy that did not sit well with the lovers. Reinhart WAS a top-line winger and don't forget Skinner is a 40 goal scorer not a 14 goal scorer.
Now, I LOVE the revisionist history of someone on here who supports the Sabres because they are his team after bashing the Hell out of them and some yacht relentlessly. That is classic!! The bashing will commence again by that poster, he stays in lanes like a drunk driver. - GilPerreault11
Bashing Sam & Skinner doesn’t make u any better though dude
Wanting better is fine, but...
1- we are stuck with Skinner, & it’s WAY past time to let that hate go
2- trading Sam would be surprising, & if he signs a long term deal then you’ll have to accept that as well |

And Ralph pretty much said as much.
He pointed out both VO and (I believe) Skinner as guys who could switch

Solid counter to the point it makes no sense to bump Sam down and keep VO up.. o right it still doesn’t make sense |

WTF? No, I am just bringing up the fact that so many thought the Sam and Skinner show would be good enough and that mua, me, said it was nowhere near good enough. Now, I know you do not enjoy that you look like a fool but sticking up for Sam like your red-headed stepchild now, all of you, is going to allow me to do this again in the future when he is dealt or falls flat on his face when they cut the cord from Jack. We have seen what blind loyalty brings and it isn't pretty.
