It's an opinion based on his peers' FA contracts. Guys like him got paid a M less, and guys better than him got his 2M

I also don't rate guys based on goals alone. It's a part of it, but there's a lot of other factors that make a player "good". He's "good" at defending. His purpose is not goal scoring, so it's not a quality I rate in a player like him. His purpose is aggressive forechecking and limiting chances vs the opposition, which he does quite well. At least, he did, with OG Larry.

Derek Grant, 1.5M, 15G, 25 PTS
Kyle Turris, 1.65M, 9G 31 PTS

I liked larsson, more than most. Suprisingly, he left for alot less $ than I expected.
But he signed for very little $ with the worst team in the league? Ufa status for his first time ever. So what does that tell you? He wasnt good enough for ralph.

This has been missing for years and needs to finally get addressed. I think you overshadow intangibles.

I only point out the good things due to the constant bashing he gets from half the board

he isn't a top 20 sabre for players I like all time, not even close

but he is a sabre, and I root for my team

I think his 2 way game is under appreciated, his chemistry with eichel is assumed by most could be replaced with anyone

the chemistry he has with jack is impressive to watch and saw nothing like that with jack and olofsson

if he was picked 32nd overall instead of 2nd, the bashing would be reduced

in his entire NHL career, .6375 points per game, times 82 is 52.3 points


in his last 180 games, 145 points which is .8055 points per game and times that by 82 is 66 points per season


easily a top 6 player on any current nhl roster
