I played with a guy back in college (club). Guy was solid, could skate like the wind but had stone hands. He was a part time AHL linesman! I give props to you officials, it’s easy to make/criticize calls from the stands/couch but not so easy to make them on the ice as the play happens. I could never do it. - Chris16

Well before my time! I was 8 or 9
Us part time local linesmen are a dying breed in the AHL and ECHL
This coming season might be my last. I was planning on last year being it for me but with how the season ended I’m not ready for that to be how I go out.
I need to move back home and get back on the college tour! Those were some of my best times in my life. |

D1 college is such good hockey. So much talent and they don’t take a shift off. I go to a lot of Yale games. If you can settle back into an area with multiple D1 teams within a short driving distance, that sounds like a great officiating gig. |

Ive been able to ref players who have gone on to the NHL, who have gone on to win gold at the Olympics.
I have worked with officials who have worked the Olympics.

Played a bit in Performax (7-8 years). Set-up center. Good in my own zone. Above average hockey IQ. Could score around the net but not much of a shot from the outside. Elite faceoff winning skills. Average skater. |

Also Okposo'd out of the game. Caught a 7th concussion in which I lost sight in my left eye for a while. It returned but I'm not quite interested in doing that again. |

I never had a diagnosed concussion but I wonder how many concussions I actually had. I remember one time going into the corner full speed, getting tangled with another players feet then going down and hitting the boards head first so hard it knocked the wind out of me and ripped all the padding loose from the inside of my helmet. Didn’t miss a shift. And I wonder why my mind is mush now. |

I was Gilles Hamel. - Powerslave
I was an offensive Dman and coaches also played me at center. I still remember my first hatrick as a Dman. I still can't figure out how pro Dmen play the puck and not just follow the crest on one on ones. That is one of the first basic things I learned as a defenseman and I never forgot it. I beat myself up after every game even if I played a really good game, I always noticed the mistakes or what I could have done better. My coach when I was in 7th grade was also a coach at St. Francis and was trying to get my dad to send me there but I went somewhere else. |

Pretty decent skater, legs aren't as good as they used to be, age has taken its toll. Play either wing, decent shot, but my shoulder is a mess. |

Seems we’re sharing our hockey stories tonight, pretty cool.
I started skating when I was 4, started playing at 6. Led the league in scoring in squirts and promptly became a goalie the next year. I went to st Francis Hs but didn’t make the team, as the coaches had their “favorites” so to speak. So, while going to Frannies, I played for the public high school (Frontier HS) who needed a 2nd goalie. In my first game vs st Francis I got a shut out.
After college I played hockey again switching back to forward. Played in a men’s league and led the league in scoring. Looking back i wish I would have played forward all along. Strengths are speed, soft hands, hockey IQ and face offs. Weaknesses are skating technique and temperament (too competitive). Most memorable two nights of hockey were when I scored 6 goals right after I learned my grandfather had passed away and when i got a hat trick in a championship game, the 3rd goal in overtime, the night I came back from my Dad’s funeral. I remember growing up going to the Sabres games with My Dad and Grandpa in the aud, up 3 escalators To the 3rd last row in the oranges. Looking down on Perreault. My Grandpa and Dad were definitely looking down on me during those 2 aforementioned games. |

So far we have
Afinogenov- xxx- Reinhart
Xxx-xxx-Girgensons
Xxx- Borgen - sbroads24
I was the number 1 goalie in the state my jr and sr year. (frank)ing coach was a total jackoff. no exposure to colleges or juniors. he wanted it that way. I used to basically tell him to (frank) right off my sr year and he would still play me every game because he had no spine. |

Scouting report on myself:
Deadly back-hand, wrist shot like a homing missile, can rip a one-timer from the left slot with the best of them. I can also whiff like Scott Norwood just as much as I can snipe like Brett Hull, so I need about 15 shots per game in order to put one in the net because I mostly just blast the goalie in the mask. I can dangle like a wizard one second and the next, cough the puck up like a smoker in the morning before work coughs up his lung.
I can skate with respectable speed and have great agility but no finesse and my balance is equivalent to a 2-year old's. If I overthink it, I can't stop - if I get immersed in the game, I can stop on a dime. I can pass the puck to a tea cup but forget about a saucer pass, you better be ready because I'm shooting the puck at your stick and you're probably not expecting it so it ends up in your skates anyway and makes us both look bad.
My best attribute is blocking shots and I most often just do the Afinogenov move where I blaze down the ice, circle around the net and turn it over when I no-look fling it to the front of the net expecting Vanek to be there but his lazy ass smoked cigarettes and scratched lottery tickets in the parking lot of gas stations all night on Elmwood and he's only at the red line breathing heavier than a fat woman in labor at ECMC. |
