That “market” is for the league in general though
Doesn’t include the “Buff-a-tax”
This is a done deal anyways
Don’t think we need to beat Girgs being “overpaid” or not to death.... do we? - jdfitz77

Would anyone trade samson and sign Hoffman to play rw?
The Hoff is 30, was at $5.1 per... What term and money would make sense?
Is Hoffman on a 3-4 year deal on a slight raise from the $5.1 >\< Samson At $6.5-$7?
Could you balance the team a bit better and add a pick(s) and/or prospect(s) by trading Samson and adding Hoffman to fill the RW slot?
Hall. Jack. Hoffman
Skinner. Staal. Cozens/Tage/Olo
Olo. Eatkids. Cozens/Tage
Girgs. Lazar. Okoposo
PK Larry - Gr8daygo
Trade of Sam is fully dependent on the return...I don't see a team doing that until Sam re-signs before or after Arb.
But, assuming they did, then sure.
Hoffman would get more than Dadnov's $5.0m x 3 ... so maybe +15%...$5.75sh x 3 |

I would guess that Eakin plays on the 3rd line initially, not sure that Girgs gets there this year myself. If so, to me it means both Tage and Mitts failed and are playing in Roch or whatever the plan is for the AHL. At that point the team is much better signing our friend Ka-BOOM!!!
I would think Girgs plays with Lazar and Okposo. I he does play 3rd line minutes, as I said yesterday, I'd then expect 30+ points, not stay at 22-24. - IonSabres
Girgs paycheck was based on his ice time last year, i would imagine? Almost 14 minutes a game, which was 3rd line minutes. So you shouldnt expect more points for the 3rd line.
So 24 points on the 4rh line
30+ points on the 3rd line
40 + points on the 2nd
50+ points on the 1st line.
I want some of your internet points.
Sabres gonna be good and girgs gonna be good too.

Fair enough - 11 goals and 11 assists for 2.2 seems fair on the surface. For girgensons.
I'm guessing playing with a former 40 point player in eatkids (TM sabretooph9) should boost his production.
He did play with larry and okposo quite often.
Although comparing girgs (goals for) is a concrete, on paper written response, you cant judge girgs team
Imagine arguing with jcrags/evane rodpussez on how gritty a guy was last night in the game?.
Wow did you see that effort ion s. ?
Doesnt fly around here. - Boss34
You keep implying that Girgensons is tough. He has 2 NHL fights in 8 years. He skates around the ice with a grin on his face. I dont see it |

Derek Grant, or Brad Richardson if you want to go that way. And he was the 5th leading goalscorer because we couldn't score goals, and something he does every 5yrs. - Buff36
Derek grant
0 goals in a buffalo uniform. 6 nhl teams derek grant?
Got me on that one 36 - well played 🤝
Good comparison, aside from some of the obvious things such as pending ufa for the first time ever.
Guys get paid $ more.

Sure was.
Love to see it again.
Preparing to see more like Titans though...
also depends on who's playing Brown, Moss, Edmund's, Milano, White.
Assuming they're all relatively healthy, hoping for a good game. |

Girgensons is overpaid, and that is a fact based on his peers' contracts.
Saving that extra 5-7k could have made room for another useful bottom 6 winger. If the Sabres can sign Sam under 6. It's moot at this point.
Girgensons plays hard and tries hard and can skate fast. That's why he's here and Larry isn't. |

Let's be realistic:
You cant see past anything girgensons related. Your eyes are closed and not close to being impartial.
Girgs plays the body, the tough minutes against the best nhl players. Size and good speed. Wears players down with forchecking and a grinding game.
Fighting isnt the only sign of toughness. Nobody is intimating girgs, taking cheap shots against him. He doesn't need protection on ice.
Girgs is gritty not a fighter. Does the small things that the star players dont. Very reliable defensive forward. |

I like to go on Pts per Game basis, and I also try to differentiate a bit with position, and linemates.
All in all though, it isn't a straight line, but for simplicity:
4th ~ 25+
3rd ~ 35+
2nd ~ 45 - 65
1st ~ 70+ with at least 1 in the 80/90's
That would be a very competitive team IMO. |

It wasn't a full tear, and he's wearing a brace and leading with his opposite shoulder. He needs to be careful to not let the opposition target his shoulder |

This is literally the process in arbitration. There are numerous factors that go into an argument for a contract, and the players I listed yesterday are very close comparables to Girgensons. |

Hm, and yet when Sabres players take cheap shots, I never see Girgensons address it later in the game.
Well I take that back, he may wildly pirouette into the boards while spinning and falling and miss a check on someone |

So today a 4th liner should score 25+ points
Yesterday, 4th liners should be paid just the minimum?
75+ points for 2.1 million for a whole 4th line.
I now see how you think girgs is overpaid.
Makes more sense. 😉 |

This is an argument that won't end. The preference for hard nosed players and the disdain for softer skill players has been made crystal clear. The bias of the conservation will never be overcome. This is a dead end road.
Girgensons plays hard, is not very intimidating, Sam puts up a lot more points and is also not intimidating. I'd say we should move on, but we won't. |

Girgs doesnt get people back that cheap shot other players.

Yeah was thinking he would probably be wearing a harness, could really affect him in pass coverage to, hard to move that arm in certain directions. Sounds like Edmunds has been downgraded. |

Jeff Skinner is more likely to stick up for a teammate than ZG. Jeff Skinner will mix it up, chirp and antagonize. I'd like to see ZG play tougher
Usually he will adjust his bucket after he misses a hit and then smile all the way back to the bench. |
