Isn’t this your exact argument for having Tom Sestito/Reaves? Sid wants him in the lineup so he should be? - Victoro311
I mean, if Grinder had it his way our lineup would look like this:
Lucic-Sid-Perry
Neal-Geno-Clutterbuck

I take offense that these tough guy lineups never included Evander Kane. |

He did pushups with stacks of money. Not enough character for Grinder. Neal, though. High character guy. |

Blehhhhh... I still wanted him instead of Horny all those years back. No one wanted to swing the deal for him as a rental and then dumping Horny for nothing and extended Kane instead.
edit: I am thinking my memory may be a bit off... but E Kane might have been traded on LTIR, out for the season... and that is why no one here wanted that. I was perfectly fine with having him for the next year instead of Horny. |

Reading thru everything it sounds to me like we could sure use Patrick Hornqvist. - Thunderbolt
To do what? Fumble possession on the 1st and 2nd lines with Geno and Sid or Slow down the 3rd line speed, or to be a massive overpayment on the 4th line, and also be slow?
Or to be a guy making 5.3 and be injured or in the press box? |

I realize they may not have bought out JJ without Matheson, but they should. Which would you rather have?
Matheson at 3LD and ERod/Lafferty at 3RW or
Riikola/POJ at 3LD and Hornqvist at 3RW |

Well JR got Ceci...not an awful contract but it eats up another spot that could have been earned by POJ (maybe) and Riiki who I really like when he’s played |

I saw this coming for Ceci. He was pretty bad. He's a right handed defenseman. Hopefully he can rebound. |

I've been very vocal about wanting to move on from Hornqvist, but I always made it clear I don't want him moved if it meant a downgrade to the quality of the lineup and unfortunately that's what is going on. The bottom six is SUBSTANTIALLY worse.
Even with JJ gone, I don't know this team is any better defensively. The reviews on Matheson are so mixed and we will have to wait and see how he fits in, but I'm skeptical due to all the comparisons to JJ that I've read.
If you told me Simon-McCann-Horn was the third line going into next season I wouldn't be thrilled, but I'd feel a hell of a lot better about this team than I do now.
EDIT: Well, that was a waste of a post I just wrote. Now I know the defense is going to be worse. |

I can't wait to hear JR say how excited he is to have gotten a player like Ceci and how they felt for a long time he'd be a good fit for this team. |

People keep bringing up that Hornqvist was some kind of viable 3rd liner because he has a history of being a goal scorer with Sid and Geno and on the PP (With Sid and Geno) and that somehow translates into scoring on a 3rd line that is going to clearly be based on speed and centered by NOT Sid or Geno

We just signed Ceci. It doesn't really matter anymore. The window is, as the kids say, dunzo. |

WTFrank!?!?!? Why does Rutherford keep doing this?!?!? And why isn't someone stopping him?!?!?
If there is a silver lining, it's that the contract is only for 1 year |
|

With the little cap space we have left... We spend it on Cody Ceci.
This was a move everyone saw coming lol. At least he didnt give him a 5 year deal.
I guess this confirms the idea that Rutherford is happy with the bottom 6 and doesnt see a need to upgrade the 3rd line, especially at 3C.
Your bottom pairing guys are near $6M in cap hits and I'd be willing to bet they give us below average results. absolute insanity. |
