It's time to consider that Leafs fans don't know how to evaluate defensemen given their views on Gardner and Morgan Rielly respectively.

I will say that Ceci looks a bit better defensively than I was expecting, but I really don't know how you can argue that Ceci was better than Barrie. People's eye tests are just insanely biased towards defensemen that trie to pass the puck forward because it causes turnovers.

They love Rielly. Absolutely love the guy.
Barrie is better than Ceci 100%...but for what they expected from him, he was underwhelming, that's all. They didn't want him back and that says a lot.

Nope. Letang is a two way force and an excellent PKer. Rielly is pretty poor defensively and his perception could be way different if he didn't have absolutely elite forwards in front of him finishing his assists. He's a break even possession player scoring a ton of assists on an offensive juggxrnaught of a team.
Don't think he's bad. He's a solid offensively minded first pairing guy. His peak just isn't Norris caliber like Leafs fans think. Letang's is.

Well...at least now Rudy is the vet and the other guy isn't Crosby BFF.... So in short, maybe Ceci gets benched/scratched easier if playing the sh!ts... I dunno. Grasping for some kinda positive straw here Hahaha |
