Good depth signing... good locker room guy, can help with the immaturity of some of the youth.
For 700k Dubas knows they're not getting Jumbo of yesteryear... low risk.
Also, make the Leafs 5x's more interesting...

Can’t blame Joe for going cup-hunting
Low risk move that could really help the Leafs. His presence in the locker room alone is worth the $700K
They already have the most skilled forward corps in the league. Gritty character guys who play with passion are exactly what they need - AxlRose91

You guys actually think they are signing him just for his performance....it certainly isn't there not near like it used to be but he will still have something to contribute on the ice but the main reason he was picked is for the dressing room and contribution off the ice....he will be good for the youngsters guiding them along on the way to THE STANLEY CUP...they will definately be there.....JUMBO JOE-good signing - Leafcup
Isn't it a good idea to actually "find" the Cup at least once before guiding someone else to it? |

Why not just bring back Sittler? He has as many cups.

Damn I said sign spezza, thornton, and simmonds and trade the soft floaters out and got told I was on drugs. Guess the leafs management was on the same stuff. 🤣🤣🤣 |

That 4th line of Spezza, Jumbo, and Simmonds is going to be Awesome! Maybe add Chara Alzner to the third pair while you're at it... |

Tampa is one example to look at.
Having over the hill Jumbo Joe, Simmonds and Spezza would have been great in 2012, the game is now way too fast for them and other teams will expose their weaknesses by putting speedy players against them. |

Tampa is a force for sure, but had slower tougher guys as well- that's what they added after getting bounced in 4 games against CBJ the year before...
St. Louis, also not the fasted team in the world, and they one the cup the year before.
Not suggesting the Leafs win the cup, but they're better today then they were a week ago.
Weber not winning any awards for speed BTW.... |

I'll put the rumor out there. E4. - CupOnBroadSt.
My source says still A LOT of work to be done but the the framework is:
Laine, ehlers and a mid 2021 pick (3rd or 4th?)
For
Reinhart, middlestadt, a RHD (sabres want it to be Miller, WIN wants Risto; they may settle on Montour) and a higher mid 2021 pick (2nd?).
Both teams can’t really take on cap and this is pretty cap neutral based on what Reinhart will sign for.
Stayed tuned as Reinhart has to sign first |

LMAO love LEafs fans coming in defending the trade. $98346346879 says this Leaf fan would be ripping on another team had they signed him. |
