Chara a 700k like Thornton .....sure - Alexzanki
Was thinking the same thing. I’d take him back on isles for $700. Back to the team that drafted him. |

Flacco was when he was done with his 3 and outs, and turnovers lol! He watched a lot from the sidelines! Oof 0-16 and they’ll draft Trevor Lawrence and he will refuse to sign lol! Eli manning all over again! |

My buds and I took acid in college and went to a Flyers-Bruins game (in Philly). Chara was the only player on the ice who we could identify because of his size. Great times. - arichardson22
Acid was soooo much fun in highschool. I haven’t done it in 30 years because adult stresses would probably result in a bad trip but some of the best times I’ve ever had were spent ripped on LSD 👍 . All kids should experiment with hallucinogenics , IMO. |

"I feel that Chara will either re-sign with Boston (most likely) or another east coast team (isles, flyers or leafs) but not Habs. Very remote that he moves to western conference. He has a young family and preference#1 is obviously not to uproot them. If the nhl returns with 82 game season in a bubble then he is likely going to want to be in the bubble(s) that is closest to where his family is now. Just my 2 cents"
If he wants to minimize the distance to relocate, why would he choose the leafs over the habs? Its way less distance to get to Montreal from Boston compared to Toronto. Have you even seen a map? |

If he's signing a super low cost contract, then Boston is most likely going to offer him that. Seems like a no brainer unless he wants to go cup chasing, but Boston is still a contender so why leave unless it's for Vegas or Tampa? |

If the Leafs signed him, Thornton, Simmonds, and Bogosian, all for their bottom lines at near league minimum, it would be hilarious.
Their first 2 lines and first pairing is a 2020 all star line. Their bottom lines and pairings would be a 2010 all star line.
But I would happily play Chara as a 2nd/3rd pairing guy. The Leafs would suddenly become a lineup with ample toughness and experience, along with the high octane youth at the youth.

So who makes it to the 2nd round first....Toronto or Seattle? |

I would love to see NYR pick him up we need a left D who can still play like Chara does! |

You remember back in the early 2000’s when all the old washed up players always went to Toronto? Nolan, Niewendyk, Belfour, Housley, Francis. History repeats itself, I guess. |

In the mid-90s it was STL, thinking they could win by importing the Oilers

Belfour was a Vezina finalist with the Leafs, Nieuwendyk wasn't too far under a point per game player. Owen Nolan was 30 when he joined the Leafs, injuries were his issue, not age, and when actually in the lineup, he was very effective, also a near point per game.
Housley, Francis, Lindros would be examples, but all of these guys back then were hoped to be key parts of the lineup, so it's not REALLY the same thing.
I'm surprised a Sens fan would talk about history repeating itself though, because those were the years the Leafs repeatedly spanked the Sens handing them playoff exits. But we could focus on something more recent, like Sens captains jumping ship, which has in fact, repeated itself the last 4 times in a row. Even assistant captains...... The Sens have had 8 in the last 2 seasons, and not one of them is still with the Senators. |
