If he truly does want out, CLB appears to be a match. Could a straight up deal for Werenski work? Obviously Seth Jones is too valuable - AxlRose91
I doubt they trade either of them, but they'd probably be more open to trading Jones unless they're 100% sure he'll re-sign and they're ready to give him 12 million a year. Werenski is still a RFA at the end of his deal.

Laine is just another crybaby millennial. Boohoo my coach won’t play me on the first line, so I’m just going to complain about it. Maybe instead you should actually WORK at becoming a more complete player first and, you know, EARN first line minutes.
The guy’s one dimensional. And with the attitude he seems to have, he’s never going to grow into his potential.
I hope Winnipeg gets a ton for him in a deal. But if I was an opposing GM I sure wouldn’t overpay for the guy. |

I wouldn’t trade Laine for two years of Jones. Would be a horrible trade for the Jets |

Its a shame that Maurice and his stubbornly poor use of his personnel is driving Laine, Roslovic and Niku out of Winnipeg. The Jets will never get a fair return for them. - islansjet
Can't possibly be that the players in question are exactly where they should be in the pecking order ?? |

I could see Sabres offering Western Canada guy Sam Reinhart and a defenseman (Risto, Miller or Montour) maybe a conditional draft pick, and/or a prospect like Mittelstadt. |

Firstly, you mentioned Risto twice. . . What is the prospect that were you alluding to?
I hope Chevy has no interest in Reinhart. Montour would definitely be of interest, I would think, although he did just resign with the Sabres; it's not usually "good business" to trade a player who just committed to the team. That being said, he did only re-up for 1 season and then he's UFA, so it's likely he sees what's out there on the market next year, etc. . . .
If I'm the Jets, the deal would need to include Cozens, I'm afraid, and I'm doubtful the Sabres would entertain that.
I think Cozens, Montour, and a 1st Round pick (perhaps conditional? Only a 2nd Round pick unless Sabres make playoffs or something?) . . . for Laine and a minor piece, and Chevy just may pull the trigger.
Stastny is the 2C for the now but this deal provides great center depth for the Jets in the future (Cozens and Perfetti). Montour provides a solid D-man for a year, anyhow, and who knows, maybe he loves it in Winnipeg and stays! (perhaps that's the 'minor piece' that Winnipeg throws in -- a conditional 4th/5th Rounder if Montour resigns next year. (?))
Again, doubtful Buffalo would do this deal. (unless they're really committed to making Eichs happy!) And I certainly look forward to hearing Jets fans tell me that I'm foolish to think Laine would be traded for so little, also! At least you know Cozens can handle a smaller community and Winnipeg winters!! LOL |

No, I agree, S. Jones straight up for Laine, would not be a good idea. It won't happen. Needs to be traded for player who's next contract is while he's an RFA or a player who is tied up several years.
Mind you a prospect(s) and pick could be added by both sides that might make it seem more doable.

Since Montour is a UFA in a year this deal
Is essentially Cozens and a first. I don’t see the jets doing this. |
|
|
|
Chevy is essentially at a crossroads right now and I would like to see him pick a path.
Either he goes all-in on Laine and signs him to a multi-year extension and makes him the Center piece of the Jets; or he trades him and gets a massive haul for him.
This halfway crap is frustrating to both players and fans! |

We are all going to be SO disappointed when the deal for Laine actually happens & looks more underwhelming than what I mentioned. I hope I'm wrong--Chevy has done well on bigger trades in the past--but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Chevy seems to take his sweet damn time with everything. I don’t think the offers are going to change much. Just get this done before it turns into a hold out side show. |

Anything from Philly not named Hart, Provorov or Couturier. Philly better not (frank) this up. Our forward group is such a terrible mix. - hereticpride
I completely disagree that the Flyers forward group is such a mess. The GM just the other day commented on how deep and strong the teams forward group is. I honestly don't know what you're talking about and by the looks of it, neither do you. There is no way I would include Sanhiem or Myers in a deal for Laine.

Chevy would be making a big mistake making Laine the center piece of the Jets. So many better players on that team.

Can't see the Jackets trading either Jones or Werenski at all right now. They don't have the depth or prospects to make up for that loss. If they are that dumb then i hope Yzerman is on the phone making a deal for Werenski.
My guess would be they offer something like Bjorkstrand, Foudy and maybe Gavrikov or a pick. |

I could actually see something like that happening too. Seth Jones is a straight 100% no, but Werenski could make sense, 5m per and locked up for 2 more years.
Not sure how it would work out for Columbus though. Having Dubois, at least after he re-signs with that new massive deal, and Laine could give them young offensive punch, but their prospect pipeline right now is absolutely trash, especially on D.
If Chevy wanted to stick it too Laine, sending him to Columbus would do the trick. - Glak18 Texier, Foudy, Bemstrom are all under 21 and not exactly what I would call trash.

Hate to tell you guys but if Laine gets traded, it will probably not be the blockbuster that you're hoping for. As any Sens fan will tell you, when you're put in a position where it's clear that you need to trade the player, you get pennies on the dollar.
Eric Karlsson, if not for the colossal collapse of the Sharks, would have seen a late 1st as the key piece of the deal. The M. Stone deal main piece was Brannstrom who has yet to solidify a permanent roster spot on the team. Hoffman and Duchene return even less. So don't expect much more than a top prospect and some secondary pieces.

Gaudreau is 27 and a UFA after 2 seasons. Don't think the Jackets would give as much for him. |

If Chevy traded Laine for God there would still be certain posters on this board that would still be complaining. |
