EK's latest.
Mike Hoffman, who is definitely the biggest fish still out there, appears to be waiting on the Vancouver Canuck to clear cap space. I am also hearing the Canucks are offering Erickson to everyone ALONG with their first round pick, UNPROTECTED. That tells you how much they want and cherish Hoffman.

Don't worry, 9.5 million will be freed up once JB tells LE and MF to mutually terminate or be placed on LTIR against their wishes. It's all going to be ok and will be fine before he starts making moves before next month... or is it before next season, the narratives are confusing...

MF has a NMC preventing him from being on waivers, though he has agreed to be exposed on the expansion draft. |

With 2015 being an odd year due to teams purposely tanking for McDavid, 2016 and 2017 are the end result of GMMG's tenure as GM and being unable to acquire young talent to keep our old core relevant. Then in 2018, 2019, and 2020 you see steady improvement in the team under GMJB. GMJB has made many mistakes, but he has this team improving each year since getting rid of the old core. |

I’m in the minority as I’ve been really pleased with the off-season moves so far. Brought in a stud dman and made the right calls letting their aging vets go. My only concern is adding sweetners to move out sh!t contracts. The team needs to be patient |

Interesting tidbits on new Canucks Hawryluk: - NewYorkNuck
I remember reading a similar article when the Canucks acquired Clendening
I think sometimes Benning gets too focused on his memory of the prospect. Hopefully the kid is a good depth piece but I'm not sure he's a replacement for Graovak at this point. |

We could probably dump Beagle and Roussell for cheaper to other teams though. And would be easier to do... |

Agreed - depending on the price - seems like a good year to get good value from UFA's as well though. Interesting they are willing to move space for MH but not TT?

It's EK, he has no clue what is happening.
I really doubt Canucks want Hoffman, considering his drama. Benning values character pretty strongly.Granlund is a way better fit IMO but I doubt we sign any significant UFAs. I do think we'll see some trades though.

I think his moves have been the right ones, even though I don't think the team is as good. The TT one is the most irksome, but getting Schmidt is a complete win.
As for sweeteners, I suppose it depends on how much JB has to give. If he deals a 3rd with Rous for a 4th, I'd consider that pretty alright. Giving a 1st or a 2nd to get rid of someone outright would be pretty terrible. |

I guess a 1st is the price for getting rid of Loui. Tough pill to swallow, but it would put the team in a good position providing they don't sign Hoffman to a stupid deal.

A 3rd got us Schmidt, prices to unload contracts are rising not falling so I very much doubt Roussel and a 3rd will get us a 4th.
OJ and JV are the most likely pieces to move a contract IMO and I think they still would need to take back a contract.
JV, OJ and Sutter for Zacha for example.

Getting rid of OJ leaves you real thin on D. |
