Nice narrative. In other words there have been 4 Russians taken in the 1st round since 2017.
D+1 seasons in KHL
Denisenko 12 pts in 38gms
Kravtsov 21 pts in 50gms
Podkolzin 4 pts in 18gms so far
Kostin didn't play.

I could include D season buts just going to make Podkolzin look better....

- belcherbd

So those guys have all trended more points in their D+1 season than Podz in his D+2 season? It's far worse in Podz D+1 season...

Thank you for supporting my point.

Kostin has 17 KHL games by the way. 9 were in 16/17 season.

You're arguing semantics. He left like 10 days after the regular season ended, he was technically under contract until July 1st lol.

And again, the rest of my post stands, he knows what he's signing up for. If he can't handle those commitments then I'd try to trade his rights and if no one wants them, then just let them expire and let someone else cater to him if they want.

- Nucker101

Although Tree improves our top 6, he is not good enough to garner special treatment. If he wants a 1 way contract it should be at an amount that can be fully buried in the AHL.

You have no point. Podk scored at a better rate in his D+1 season than Kucherov in the same league The KHL is notorious for not spending the time to develop kids they know are bolting for the NHL as soon as their contract is up. he will also be able to join us before the half way point of our season. A lot of sites had him down as a top 10 prospect in the league before the current draft, after this draft he is still considered somewhere between 15-20.

Do you know what these six guys all have in common since the 04/05 lockout season?

- Rod Brind’Amour
- Pavel Datsyuk
- Patrice Bergeron
- Jonathan Toews
- Anze Kopitar
- Ryan O’Reilly

I’ll tell ya, in the 15 seasons since the 04/05 lockout they’ve (all centers) combined for thirteen Frank J. Selke Trophies and everyone of them has won the Stanley Cup in that time frame. Only Ryan Kesler (2011) and this years winner Sean Couturier haven’t won the Cup. It’s more important to have a Selke winning center than it is to have the Hart Trophy winner!

Which is why I’d explore trading Bo Horvat + for Patrick Laine and put J.T. Miller in as your second line center behind Pettersson.

Laine Pettersson Hoglander
Pearson Miller Boeser
Podkolzin Gaudette Virtanen

he really needs to decide to LTIRetire. His agent even said the he may not even be able to see his daughter play again in another year.
“With such an upside-down year … in another year he might not be able to be there to see that.”

That to me reads as "Another concussion and his brain could be to fvcked up to live his life properly."

Yup, way to much time on your hands.
Bo is the closest this team has to a Selke calibre player.

Bo is a guy who could win the Selke within the next 5 years though. If we need a Selke Winner, why trade one with the potential to win it?

Most everything I’ve read says he’s matured and improved his overall game since he first played with the Canucks as a 21 year old. He’s 26 now, I’d actually like to see him again in the NHL to see for myself.

Horvat didn’t receive a Selke vote this year, yes I know he plays some tough matchups, however, Miller did...he finished 19th.

It could mean that, which I am sure most of us are concerned about for him, or it could mean, he would be playing hockey next season and wouldn't be able to enjoy watching his daughter play.

As much as the team needs a player like Ferland, he needs to rest that melon of his.

So would I, but he isn't Chara, he isn't a Franchise D. If he wants us to cater to his every whim to come play here, tell him to stay the fvck in Russia.

Gotta give to get, Laine is a pure scorer and J.T. Miller can fill that second line role. I think we’re a better team with Patrick Laine and JT Miller then we are with JT Miller and Bo Horvat.

But I was wrong once before

With Toews(24) being the only one to do it before 25, most selke winners are late 20's early 30's before they win it. in fact all but Bergerons(26) first win are from 27+ year old players. Kopitar didn't win it until AFTER his first cup, same with Bergeron. I'd trade Miller before Horvat currently.

Who would be the centre on the other top line, Beagle?
That was a pretty idiotic trade coming from a guy who wants quality centres, but loves Gaudette and Elias as top 3 centres.
You jump on people who want to trade Brock to fill a hole but promote a trade of a more important player and positional young player, smarten up

I think we are better with Bo and Miller than Laine and Miller. Sure Laine will get you more points than Bo, but Bo will give you more chances to win the game than Laine. Bo is as close to Bergeron as Laine is to Ovechkin. Who would you rather have?
