Should you delete your account if Ferland is healthy to start the season and LE is still here?

I'm going by pro reports and observation. I don't buy into spite theory its not logical. What is factual is that he's not getting favorable development opportunities. Its okay he might learn to be more productive with less.

A few good moves by Benning and the Shamblers switch over to their Alts.

Should they just delete their accounts when into 2021 Ferland is LTIR and LE is gone?
- NuckUp

So the deadline is January 1st, not November 1st like you'd previously intimated?

I know he's been jerked around with his ice time and is playing against men in a pretty good league but his lack of production can't be just glossed over. I think it's definitely best to temper expectation when it comes to his offensive upside as a NHL player. People made those excuses for Virtanen as well when he junior numbers plateaued despite being a year older than his draft year. I'm not saying he'll be Jake 2.0, just that he probably won't be a guy who can create offense on his own, he'll most likely be a complementary 3rd wheel type on a scoring line.

I'd love to be wrong though.

I hope the difference between him and Jake is he understands this coming in and works to maximize it.

He's not Jake.
Podz hustles his asz off and is reliable defensively, nothing like virt... I think he'll be a great third wheel in the top six.

Jayce Hawryluk, nice signing. He should make a good 3 line centre.

I see Pod as a very capable top 6 player. Going back and reading through all the pre-draft analysis, he covers every facet of the game. He hasn't show as much as some like in the KHL, but I think being bounced around has a lot to do with that.

I'm excited for when he comes over this year – even when it's starting on the third line and working his way up.

Speaking of which... if the NHL is actually looking in to a Feb 1 start, and the KHL season ends Feb 27 (+ playoffs..?), the Canucks could get Podkolzin over any time from the first month onward.

Interesting tidbits on new Canucks Hawryluk:

This isn’t the first time Canucks general manager Jim Benning has had his eye on Hawryluk: he tried to trade up at the 2015 draft to nab him, but the Panthers took him 32nd overall. Benning ended up taking Thatcher Demko four picks later.

Benning said that he’d talked with former Panthers general manager Dale Tallon a few times about possibly nabbing Hawryluk away from Florida, but they never figured a deal out.

“I think Jayce is happy and relieved,” Hawryluk’s agent Jason Davidson said Monday about his signing with the Canucks.. “Jim and I have talked about him on a couple different occasions.”

“I knew what they thought of him in his draft year,” he added, explaining why he called Benning up once the free agency window opened on Oct. 9. “I think Travis Green is going to like Jayce’ style. In his draft year he was over a point per game. In his 19 year old season, he was three goals shy of 50. There’s always been that skill. And even in junior at 16 he wreaked havoc on defencemen. He’s hard on pucks. His motor is always running, that’s likely what appealed to the scouts in his draft year.”

“The tempo he plays at, it don’t matter what the score is. … He plays bigger than what he measures out at,” he said. “He’s got a heart of a lion. I think Vancouver Canuck fans are really going to enjoy watching Jayce play.”

He will become a fan favourite.

Edit, he was drafted in 2014 and not 2015.

Improving the bottom 6 one piece at a time. It'd be nice if they could find a way to bring Leivo back as well.

Makes one wonder what JB saw in him at that draft. If he was going to take him over Demko... Hopefully they can get him back to a good development spot.

Would love to bring Leivo back too. The Canucks just have a GLUT of forwards – some trades would definitely need to happen.

Top 6: Petey, JTM, JV, Horvat, Pearson, BB
Bottom 6: MacEwen, Gaud, Rous, Sutter, Beagle, Motte
Cusp: Hawryluk, Hoglander, Lind
Questionable/AHL: Baertschi, Eriksson, Ferland

Is Hawryluk an AHL signing? Because now we’ve got four centers in the bottom six, Gaudette, Beagle, Sutter and now Hawryluk.

I have no idea. I mean, he hasn't been a staple NHL player, sort of tweener. But I'm sure JB sees more in him than just an AHL body – there wouldn't be much reason to sign him now if he didn't think he could play.

Maybe JB has some things on the burner? Maybe a Sutter buyout, maybe a trade of JV or Gaudette or Rous?

There has to been some sort of movement in that bottom 6 before the season starts.

He's not making between 3-6 million, so I doubt he is for the bottom 6. Must be AHL.
