I assume #46 will play the point on the PP, i’d prefer to see Mcavoy get the reigns to QB that PP1. I feel there is some untapped potential there for sure.

Debrusk can be streaky and lethal at times. Very skilled player but needs to round out his game no question. The north south game and driving wide constantly runs dry and seems to break up plays. Definitely has the potential to be a consistent 25-30 goal player.

3.5 mil is probably fair. 3 mil would be even better, can’t see that number going lower for a 20 goal player.

Exactly, no way he's signing or getting signed for less than $3M. He doesn't fall into the "show me" status. He's proven he's an NHL player, just hasn't proven whether he is top 6 or bottom 6 so I have little doubt he gets a bridge deal which mean 3 years at reasonable terms so he can establish where he really fits and to get him to UFA status. I don't see him signing a shorter term to end up a RFA again...don't see it (I wouldn't take it if I were him).

I think McAvoy is a better fit on the 2nd unit. He's a better defender to make the transition to 5 on 5 in the event the PP doesn't score. In a very small sample size, Gryz filled in on the #1 unit when Krug was hurt and the unit performance was pretty much identical, again with a very small sample size.

hmmm 🤔
With that logic 1st PP would be better to transition to 5on5. Play first 1 min of PP, come for a rest and head out back out..
I don’t know....
I get what your saying, if 2nd unit gets caught on the ice you’d rather it be Mcavoy than Gryz. I think both are capable, so good problem to have I guess.

Although...the 2nd unit typically plays with 2D vice 1D like the 1st unit, so I suppose it would work.

Okay, I'm all for trying both of them out with the first unit and see who sticks.

This is a good signing for the Bs, but lets face it. No free agents want to play here or J. Jacobs is back to his old financial corner cutting. Would not shock me based on the losses with Covid. I always wanted him to sell the team as he is truly not a hockey guy but more about bottom line. Top organizations go for it and the fans see this. Right now it dont look so hot being a Bs fan.. Aging team who is afraid to pay for top players.. Status quo Donny taking orders from Mister Crabs Jacobs..

By the time they sign their last 3 players Bruins will be close to the CAP, so not sure how you figure Jacobs into the mix.

3 players? Only aware of Chara (maybe) and Debrusk being left. Unless you are talking about Cehlarik and I don't even know if they tendered him?

It's not "who" - it's how many.
According to CapFriendly Bruins have signed 20/23 with $6.657M left in CAP space.

That 20 of 23 is based on Chara, Debrusk, and Cehlarik (our current unsigned UFAs and RFAs). Pretty sure Cehlarik isn't being re-signed as to my knowledge he hasn't been tendered an offer and has since signed in Europe. So it's only 2...Chara and Debrusk.

In any event, Bruins will be clos to CAP whenever a season starts. One might argue if they are spending properly, but they are not cheaping out.

I see what you are going by...that number is also missing our 3 IR players (Miller, Marchy, and Pasta). So really if we signed Chara we would be over by one (assuming Debrusk is resigned). Obviously several players that are on the roster list will not be come start of the season...they'll be in Providence (or limbo if AHL is still shutdown...although there is apparently talks of some weird pre-game use of those players)

Oh I agree, there is no evidence of cheaping out of the roster total, just on going after individual players. The one thing I hand it to Sweeney for is the actual signed contracts...for the most part they have been bargains.

Why is Chara not signed yet? Is he going to pull a Thornton? Hopefully we will all have hockey back with somewhat fans in the arenas come Jan. 1st. My bet is another spike in corona screws everything up. Has Canada lessens the border restrictions are all? I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see the Nhl starting up Jan 1st. No player will O.K. a bubble situation for that long of a time period

Border still closed. Apparently the Raptors are considering playing out of Louisville KTY next season.

The Blue Jay's played in Buffalo. There are rumors (doubtful) of NHL temporary realignment to make a Canadian division and some sort of weird scheduling for this season. I'll believe in a season when we see one.

Anthony Travalgia: Bruins sign Matt Grzelcyk to four-year contract
Over the weekend, the Bruins signed defenseman Matt Grzelcyk to a four-year contract.

- Anthony Travalgia

This signing was a bargain. His TOI is only jumping up with Krug gone, and his value will absolutely go up as long as he can stay healthy (knock on wood)
