That’s by far my favorite blend for a burger. The problem around here is it’s hard to get grocery stores to grind that poop up for me. I need to get my own meat grinder but yeah that is the best blend of burger patty by far.

Yeah, it's harder to find places to do it now. I usually have to pre-order it from an actual butcher. Whole Foods used to it right there, but they stopped.

While I agree with what you are saying here, I think its silly to use great cuts of meat to make your own burgers. If you buy a brisket or PR and use the trimmings its one thing, but I can't imagine going out and buying a brisket to make burgers (even if that is ideal for a burger).

Caveat to my comments is that while I enjoy burgers, I would never spend the time to make my own.

Didn’t even know some grocery stores ground beef for you. What a brave new world we live in.

But yeah, I always stick to ground beef because it’s just easy. What you do with the blend is more important than the actual blend anyways. Season it up well and get creative by adding fun stuff to the mix like pepper jack cheese chunks, red onions, and avocado, and it really marginalized the utility gained from a fancy meat blend.

I’m also a pan guy. Living in city apartments I just don’t really grill because it’s a real hassle trecking to the courtyard or rooftop for common space grills when you’re just cooking for yourself. It’s one thing to lug everything up to the roof when you’re throwing a party and having friends over for a couple hours. It a a whole other to do that just to eat for 15 minutes, clean everything up, and then lug it all back down.

Making your own is really not all that hard. You just throw meat in a bowl, crack an egg over it, and mix it all together. Making the patties is as simple as grabbing a handful of the mix, balling it up and flattening it

Different cuts have different textures and fat contents which greatly affects a burger even though you're grounding up the meat. You notice a huge difference. The blend I was mentioning gives you a much better crust, more natural flavor, juicer and a softer texture.

I promise you if you took a blend like that to make a burger and lined it up next to a regular ground beef burger cooked exactly the same you'll notice a huge difference.

Hahah I’ve gotten one Publix and one Winn Dixie to do it. poop my Winn Dixie has a dry aging station there too. It’s pretty boujee.

I actually don’t like adding stuff to my patties. I like doing everything in layers.

Kinda like 5 guys, which is the ideal burger and a beacon of consistency.

It really depends on the type of burger though.

If I’m gonna go all out I gotta get Trader Joe’s Black Forest Bacon, some ballin cheese, a good brioche bun or maybe a pretzel bun if I want something dense and chewy, whip on your own burger sauce mix, batter up some slice jalapeños and fry them up, maybe sauté some baby Bella’s.

I don’t ever buy like a whole brisket for it, but my grocery store will have like a tiny cut of brisket for like 10-15 bucks.

Honestly I’ve come to realize that I prefer my own burgers to 90% or the restaurants
I go to. The one exception is when I want a greasy ball of 5 guys perfection with the best fries ever.

I guess my philosophy is if I’m making a burger myself I want to do something fun with it that I can’t get somewhere else. Otherwise why not just go to Five Guys? It’s not expensive, and I don’t have to dirty my kitchen, and probably better than what I’d make myself

Yeah I can get behind that. Usually I have stuff prepped in the freezer and vacuum sealed ready to go. When I go shopping I buy a poop load of meat and spend an hour or so prepping it. So all I my gotta do is fry it up. And, my girl cleans the atom bomb that I left in the kitchen, so that ain’t my problem. Hahaha

5 Guys is the most superior chain burger joint around. Although I’ve never tried In and Out. Shake Shack is over rated as (frank). We were talking about it the other night as we got 5 guys on the way back from the gym... I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had a bad 5 guys burger experience. They are the exact same quality day in and day out.

In and out is solid for a fast food joint but it’s nothing special.

Side note. Have you ever had Trader Joe’s Uncured Black Forest Bacon? It’s legitimately the best bacon I’ve ever had. I never leave TJs without it.

That poop is amazing. I straight up made a bacon sandwich with that one. It was literally just a pile of bacon on rye bread.
