By New Years the NFL is almost done and college football only has a handful of Bowls left. I wouldn't be super shocked if the NHL tries to strike a deal with various stadiums to to hold games outdoors at least through the end of flu season when COVID spread will be at its worst assuming we don't have a vaccine by then.

But besides that, hockey is an extremely taxing sport. You definitely have to give these guys a couple months off between seasons or else injuries will be rampant, especially if you're planning to condense the season into a shorter time window, which I assume is likely.

I don't know how close we are to a vaccine, but we are closing on how to treat the virus. Scientists are learning a lot and survival rates are climbing. If a treatment is found to cure people to an acceptable level things will get back to normal. Even when that happens it will still take time for a complete recovery.

Do you just heat above the smoker box? what is the max temperature you reach and for how long?

I run the burner below the box and sometimes the one next to it to stabilize the temp. I try to run around 275ish. Pork shoulder takes at least 1.5 hours per pound in my experience. You can wrap it and raise the temp to 350ish towards the end to get it up to 205 degrees a little quicker.

Aside from everything else, I think this will make it hard to watch the Pens this year. We have basically become the Maple Leafs. JR said he wanted a team and players that are tough to play against, but then went out and filled the lineup with soft players.

No net-front and no one will stick up for anyone else. We will just try to outskate everyone up the ice and then pass it around the perimeter if we don't get a breakaway chance. We've seen this movie before.
