Mikheyev signs @ 2 x 1.65.
It's done, but once again . . . I just never feel that we get a good deal with any of our contracts. |

I think we will like this one. He is fast, good PK’er and I could see him putting up 40 points in full season. |

Agreed. The good news is it could end up being a very nice deal in year 3 |

Makes sense.
1 year would of been 1M. 1.25M tops like I said.
They decided to get him for another year. It’ll help with resigning Hyman but now I’m wondering how they sign Dermott.
Maybe his comparable is Mete. Which is fair.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I just got an email from Groupon for 50% off Dermott. |

His usage is similar but Dermott out preformed him a bit...
So we are probably looking at 1-1.2M.
But maybe Dubas is saying “we need you at 1M or under or we have to trade you”
A few hundred K less to stay around family and his GF in Ontario makes sense. At least during a year like this. |

I wonder what that (frank)in scar on Mikyehev's arm looks like now. That injury was gruesome. |

Probably better than what the relationship with the team would have looked after arbitration so that’s a win |

My napkin has the Leafs with about 1.3m left for Dermott.
That assumes 12 fwds (Barabanov over Engvall) and 7 D. Robertson and Sandin start the year in the AHL or the developmental taxi squad that Dubas is currently regulating so as to covertly break the rules. |

Truth. Both sides are happy and the Leafs keep that Millstein pipeline open. |

Yeah, it's not that he's not worth it . . . it's that he hasn't EARNED it. A half season is not much to base that much on.
It's a pittance when you say . . . I expected $1.3, so it's not like it's preposterous. It's that it keeps happening and it adds up. Look, if a guy like Sorensen is making $1.5, then Mikheyev at 1.65 isn't that bad or anything.
In trying to articulate it . . . . at some point, it seems like Dubas is always paying 20% more than expected unless he's dipping in the bargain bin.
Matthews at 11.6, when most people thought 10.5 is 21% more.
Marner at 10.9, when most people thought 9 is 21% more.
Muzzin's only about 15% over, so maybe that's a good deal?

Sandin and Robertson can’t spend the year not playing. That would be horrible for their development. Move Kerfoot. Easy decision. |

You pay for what you think he’s going to do. It’s tough when you only have 39 games to base that decision on but thems the breaks.

I agree they'll play. The NHL is going to invest in development because it'd be silly not to. Every team has a handful of guys that won't make the roster but need ice time. They've already identified it as important.
I have no idea what it'll look like ... bubbled AHL tournaments or whatever. They'll do something. Maybe it's 20 man rosters with 8 man taxi squads that get to practice and travel or whatever.
Nobody will abandon the kids! |

The fashion sense on this team is just appalling. I was hoping they'd sign Lundqvist to help with that. Matthews is the worst offender too. It's really unfortunate. |

I think it's fair for both sides. If Mikheyev can play on the Tavares line, it'll be a great value contract |
