The fashion sense on this team is just appalling. I was hoping they'd sign Lundqvist to help with that. Matthews is the worst offender too. It's really unfortunate. - Zezel

I predicted 1.85M for 2 years, so it’s a bargain as far as I’m concerned. |

His usage is similar but Dermott out preformed him a bit...
So we are probably looking at 1-1.2M.
But maybe Dubas is saying “we need you at 1M or under or we have to trade you”
A few hundred K less to stay around family and his GF in Ontario makes sense. At least during a year like this. - Santo_44
My guess.... Dermott signs a 3 year/$3.9M deal. 1.3M per season is fair for him.. |

I was hoping for 1.5M, but I'm good with 1.645M |

Yeah, it's not that he's not worth it . . . it's that he hasn't EARNED it. A half season is not much to base that much on.
It's a pittance when you say . . . I expected $1.3, so it's not like it's preposterous. It's that it keeps happening and it adds up. Look, if a guy like Sorensen is making $1.5, then Mikheyev at 1.65 isn't that bad or anything.
In trying to articulate it . . . . at some point, it seems like Dubas is always paying 20% more than expected unless he's dipping in the bargain bin.
Matthews at 11.6, when most people thought 10.5 is 21% more.
Marner at 10.9, when most people thought 9 is 21% more.
Muzzin's only about 15% over, so maybe that's a good deal? - Monkeypunk
Any time you pay for more than one year for a player of Mikheyev age and the fact he was a rookie you will need to pay for potential. |

Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin long term. Holl for another 2 years.
We'll want to keep room for the option of re signing Lehtonen and making room for Sandin/Lil next year.
Add in the potential of Hamilton hitting FA... |

I don't see Holl on this team much longer. Also, I think Dermott has more upside and will only get better..
Didn't Bingo say that Carolina will likely re-sign Hamilton? |

Think Dubas disagrees by the sounds of it
Bingo is the GM of the Canes? Considering the Canes dont do very well in the finance department I think Hamiltons contract is very much up in the air. |

Not a huge Holl fan either. His play seemed to get worse down the stretch rather than better. I'd take Dermott over Holl. At least there is some upside there, and most likely for less than Holl is making |

To be fair, Dubas has to say that. Which GM would actively say we are looking to rid our selves of that player?
No, Bingo is not the GM. I didn't say that either. Since Dundon took over in Carolina, they have been spending more.. The report that the Leafs asked for Hamilton for Andersen and Carolina said no, must mean something |

Holl is a good player at a good cap hit.
Dubas seems to like him as well.
I think he is here to stay unless they get a better bargain or another top pair RHD. |

Ok sure, Holl has a good cap hit, but I still don't think he belongs in the top 4. |

I was surprised by it to be honest. I thought it would be 1.2ish. Dubas never seems to get a crazy deal on our own contracts.
