On a 1 year deal yes. 2 years and he gets more. This is a fine deal. - PlatosRepucklic
Yup.
I was saying 1.25M for 1 year.
2 years at 400 more K this year?
Sure it doesn’t matter to me. |

2.2m in year 2.
He has 40 nhl games under his belt.
Oh well.
Hopefully he plays well. - Fakepartofme
If you think Dubas should of taken the 1 year deal that is fine...but he got good value for 2 years as well he just had to give a little more...
Either way the leafs get a cheap good player for 1 or 2 years.
400K more than Engvall. |

It was also me. 8 career goals and 39 career games should not merit that type of contract. I get what people say about paying for potential and the risk avoidance in meeting his demands.
Maybe he'd have walked back to the KHL if he got less than $1.5M in arbitration - I don't know.
I just can't imagine that he'd have gotten any more than $1.3M in arbitration with those career numbers.

Well that was quite a ride! I saw a picture someone posted in the last thread and thought, "hey, isn't that from a blink 182 music video?". Had some poop to do, then after, I went to check and somehow lost myself on youtube for 5-6 hours...
Have we aquired this Weegir guy everyone keeps mentioning yet? I've never heard of him before him being mentioned on here a few days back, but I'm now totally convinced we need him in order to find success!
P.S. I was right. It was from "First date". Hilarious video and good song.
P.P.S. Did you guys know Machine Gun Kelly and Eminem had a beef in 2018? I didn't either until tonight. IMO Eminem slaughtered MGK. Killshot is pretty dope. |

So Soup got signed, huh? I guess 1.65m isn't too bad for two years. If he plays in the top 6 and is as effective as I hope he can be, it could be a bargain. We just didn't see a lot of him yet, so it's hard to be certain if he's worth it or not, but I'm hopeful. |

No idea how arbitration works - would the arbitrator grant him 1 year at X or 2 years at Y?
Either way - avoiding arbitration is a good thing. The cap hit is higher because we got two years. If the plan is for him to play in the top 6 - this is a fine cap hit for a top 6 winger.

Did Covid actually do us a favour this year? The value of UFA contracts is bargain basement level right now. Lots of deals! No way these contracts happen in a Covid free world. With our cap situation it has been helpful... Has also A trickle down affect on the RFA contracts. Not sure we would have gotten Soup for that low if Armageddon hadn’t occurred... Good for us I guess...
Also, someone was talking about our cap number on here and suggested Robertson and Sandin should not start the season on the team for the sake of savings... I don’t see how you can’t have those 2 on the roster. Sandin is smooth as a Swedish baby bum and needs to play. Robertson as well, put him up in the lineup.... |
