I wonder if they update the games played requirements if we have a shortened season. If the season is 48 games long maybe "b)" goes to 20 games the prior season or at least 50 games in prior two seasons

I mentioned this the other day. At on point Bettman made a quick mention that they'd look at adjusting the expansion numbers but that probably won't be put out until they determine what this season looks like.

Also, the numbers are for minimum exposure requirements, not eligibility. Meaning, if Hajek plays 10 games this year he's still eligible to be picked, but he doesn't meet the requirement for exposure. Bitetto or someone else would need to qualify as that minimum 1 defenseman. Johnson has basically qualified so maybe the Rags give him another 1 year deal.... and the internet explodes!

Whats the problem Jimmy? If the Rangers re-sign Johnson at league minimum to simply expose him to Krakken, who cares? His salary can always be buried in Hartford if he can't play in NHL anymore. Rangers aren't up against the 50 contract limit so its not a problem...

If Rangers were paying him more than league minimum or if he was taking a valuable contract slot, then I would totally agree with fans that are upset.

To me, the only downside of having Johnson around is if his presence is blocking a kid from playing in the NHL. Until that happens: there's nothing to see here, lets move along...

NO! I wouldn't swat them to go in fear of an injury and then the first year is burned because someone wanted to see him in his 3rd WJC. Kaapo & Lafreniere need to be with the big club for however long training camp is. Theres lots of adjustments and if they're somewhere else they'll be behind the others. Move on to better pics please!

I listened to an interview with Gorton and JD, they said a huge part of getting Johnson was his play on the PK. Said Pitt had a top 10 PK and he led the team in PK time. I don’t get all the talk over a guy we signed for 1 year at 1.1 million.

Exactly.
Leadership and PK. Exactly what Staal offered and everyone female doged that even though he had uses, he was way overpaid. Now we have someone to do those things at 20 cents on the dollar and people still complain.
